Modifying a black edition 2.0CR DSG?

Featured Replies

I’m on my first Skoda after a few years of SAAB. I have an Octavia 2.0 CR TDI DSG (150 bhp) and I’m wondering what issues I might face with increasing power/torque and adjusting suspension etc. I realise that I could have gone for a vRS diesel but any advice would be most welcome. Thanks!

Change the interior?

Thanks for responding. Interior is fine really, leather and electric heated seats would have been a nice touch. I’m more focused on the engine mods right now.

Remap? The main difference between the vRS and the 150 TDi is the multilink rear axle. The engine is the same 2.0 TDi. A DSG remap is also available.

I’m by no means a mechanic so I may have some rather basic questions. The remap could boost the torque and bhp (and fuel economy maybe?). Where is a reputable place to get that done? Is it worth getting done with the existing rear axle/suspension set up?

Many thanks for your helpful responses.

Shark/REVO are good for maps. I would say it’s still worth it even with the rear axle, it doesn’t adversely affect the ride unless you specify the bigger wheels IMO. Don’t know what gains you’d be looking at sorry, I’m only looking at mapping outputs for the 184 TDi.

Thanks and yes I was hoping to get it up to 184 as long as that didn’t not adversely affect anything else. It is already on the 18’’ wheels that were standard for the black edition.

I ran a CRD3 tuning box from DTUK on my L&K DSG (same 150 TDI engine) with great results.

Benefits over a remap are that it’s plug and play, and can therefore be removed when it goes in for service etc. It depends how bothered you are about your warranty really.
