Folding Wing Mirrors

Featured Replies

Hi,

Not sure if this has already been covered, but can anyone tell me if the vRS (hatch) has folding wing mirrors?

If not can it be enabled at the same time as all the other features?

Cheers

Col

Haven't seen folding mirrors on any UK spec vRS yet.

Elegance gets it :-)

The switch doesn't have the folding position on it, so not something that can be enabled without changing parts, including mirrors, wiring and door controllers at a guess.

VRS (UK spec) do's Not have folding mirrors which i think is totally wrong on a car that dependant on spec Could be touching 30k Or more,i do Not think it can be enabled by a friendly Fellow Briskskodian with a Laptop and cable either, which Again is a shame.

Trundlenut Or any of the other VCDS posse Could prove me wrong on this but i have not Seen it mentioned on "enabling threads" unlike cornering fogs, rain closing, needle sweep etc etc,

Apologies for Not giving you positive answer on this.

Have a cracking New Years ever what ever you may be doing.

That's (unfortunately) what I thought.

I guess Skoda had to overlook something.

Ach well. Happy new year to all :)

Would be interested in getting mine converted when I get it as I have to park on a street very close to a dry stone wall - the closer I can get the less chance the other side by the office won't get hit!

Take it they still "manually" fold in!?

Electric seats is a pretty major omission in my eyes....

That said, I'd rather they keep the price down and leave these nice-to-haves as extras (or not as the case may be!).

Not really bothered about electric seats as it's me that's going to be driving it for 99% of the time :)

But I could see it being an advantage if you were sharing the driving 50/50.

Only another 9 weeks left to wait now :D

What is annoying is that electric folding mirrors appear to standard on the vRS in other parts of the world.

If they where an option in the UK, I would have probably ordered them.

I would most certainly have ordered them with some of the fecking maniacs we have around in & around Guildford, Woking, Godalming & Cranleigh.

It is strange their not standard on the vrs trim, i must admit to of just presumed they were folding, although looking at how far they fold in anyway, which doesn't look like much? i guess it isn't a big loss.

Could make all of the difference between a broken wing mirror or not. A replacement is around £200, with the parts, paint, labour & VAT.

Yeah true there is that reduced risk of some sod breaking them, i wonder if the Mirrors still have the folding motor built in though? perhaps a retrofit would be possible via software and clever wizardry.

This is one of the reasons i bought an Elegance estate. Lots of narrow lanes where I live.

Also the 0 to 60 is only about half a second slower, hardly noticeable in normal driving.

insurance is cheaper £280 for me and girlfriend. Road tax £30.00 a year.

I would have liked front assist but they took it of the Elegance without notice. Not sure if the VSR still comes with it.

The car has 18inch wheels and sports suspension and I think it looks great, but not too boy racer

Front assist? As in the function that tells you if you are too close to the vehicle in front, then supposedly brakes for you if you get closer? I have that on my Elegance.

Or are you on about something else?

Front assist, something that fails to work/do anything on my vRS.

Ive never thankfully seen whether it will brake for me, but it does warn me if it thinks im too close to the vehicle in front.

Thats an Elegance though.

I know im stating the obvious, but is it 'switched on' on the infortainment system? I never thought my light/ main beam assist was working, but have just realised it was 'switched off' on the Amundsen. Have just had to switch it on.

Yep as has always been the case with the MK2 the vRS is based on SE spec with the obvious sporty additions and a couple of other niceties. As a consequence no standard nav or folding mirrors.

Strange that folding mirrors are standard on Elegance trim but not optional on any other trim but that said was the case dor the Uk spec MK2's as well

Rather glad I stepped upto the Elegance from a spec'ed up SE, I hadn't really thought about the mirrors till I took an Elegance for a test drive & thought hmmm I like that.  Still, I only made the decision to go with the Elegance based on the GFV as optional extras add nothing when it comes to second hand values.

Not entirely sure if mine will have Front Assist, it was only order this last weekend, anybody know when it was withdrawn ?

Front assist was withdrawn some months ago now, no new factory orders will have front assist. For me its no great loss as its not the sort of technology I was looking to buy the car for; is however a shame they didnt replace the kit with something else of equivalent value from the options list or reduce the list price slightly.

I read somewhere that those accepted at the factory after the end of October wouldn't have it because of lack of parts. Not sure how accurate this is though as it seems an ever moving feast and surely a parts problem in the autumn on 2013 would be resolved now. Personally, I think Skoda have no desire to install it to save a few pounds on parts. Either that or they are worried about the technology not working correctly (I understand that some peoples have activated for no reason). Personally, i'd be happier if mine had it.

Agree with your thoughts on folding mirrors, they're really useful and can save wing mirrors when parked in narrow streets.

Wonder how long mine had been sat around in stock then!! Reserved it end of November. About a month at least i guess. Saying that, arent cars that are not built to order likely to be built first to build up stock? Then cars for a specific order built as orders come in. Could have been in Emden a while. Wonder if I could find out when it was built some how. Purely out of interest. Would dealer know? Or Skoda UK themsevles

I have L&K mk2 with folding mirrors. Ordered VRS tsi estate. I asked Skoda UK why no folding mirrors. He admitted he had no answer as to why. Just thought they may have been an options on ealier models and weren't popular, so dropped them. RUBBISH EXCUSE we all know. It could have been a deal breaker as I only have 2.2 metres to get through on part of our drive. But couldn't resist a shinny new car in Rallye Green...... Just waiting now.

ok dokey. Just wondered if it was recorded anywhere

Lots of components in engine bay will have a date of manufacture stamped or stickered - this will give a good idea when the car was built.
