New 0% offers to 31st March

Featured Replies

...so they have ditched the free servicing, I wonder if that means the dealers will have a little more margin to play with when negotiating discounts?

Interestingly just returned from dealer sorting new car documents out - he said the 0% offer has been pulled from the octy vrs and the free servicing had been totally pulled.

Glad I got mine sorted out in November :D

Me too although, I did leave my order till the 28th Dec but, the maintainence and tyres for £27pm looks interesting, kinda bet you wouldn't get maintainence and tyres for £27pm on a vRS. A pair of front tyres on my first MK1 vRS lasted 5k miles, mind an old carting buddy of mine did the order for me, kinda think it got breathed all over, he was Kevin Rose VP Europe VW/Audi at the time.

Just to clarify, if we placed order / paid deposit back in October - including an offer for the free servicing etc.. we still get it, even if our unicorn of a VRS doesn't appear until March right?

Yes, as long as your ordered before Dec 31st youre on the old offer. Hence why I ordered on Xmas eve

Yeah, the offer that was applicable at the time of order counts.

If the offer improves I believe you can request to be changed, but no one would do that in these circumstances

Am I reading the small print correctly on the Skoda UK website, and you now have to pay to get 3 years roadside assistance as part of the maintenance package?

And strangely enough the Octavia service package increase at £15 per month over the base solutions charge is cheaper than the Fabia, Roomster and Rapid which is £20??

And the Yeti is not included in the 0% offer.

Just goes to show how well the Octavia / Skodas  are selling,

Skoda and VW must be loving that they can push prices up and cut deals.

Yep, can't really blame them.

Surely most of the 'maintenance' which they mention, would be included under warrantee anyway. Not all, but most of what they mention. Certainly engine, transmission and electrics should be. Most of that extra £5 per month will be for roadside assistance.

The Oct VRS has increased in price by £450.00, Metallic Paint has increased by £30.00. The 0% finance has been replaced with 2.9% APR. The Free Servicing deal is no longer available although we are looking at deals which include a Service Plan.

Hope this helps.

Got this from my dealer today. Already ordered my vrs before xmas...

looks like the vrs and yeti have had there 0% pulled etc.

Either they are proving so popular they dont need to keep the 0% going, or they arent popular at all, and they need to increase prices to keep money flowing in.

Id take a guess at the former, otherwise it's likely all models would have the 0% pulled.

Yep Yeti and vrs very popular.

Talking to dealer yesterday he said they were taking silly numbers of VRs orders and the UK had gone way way over its quota.

This stupid quota system. Just take the orders and watch the money roll in. First come first serve, as far as practicably possible (ie if parts arent available for something somebody wants on their car, they get overtaken by somebody else until their car can get built. But apart from that, order goes dealer to SUK to Skoda to Skoda Factory. Car gets put in queue, and built once it gets to front of queue. Parts not available? No problem, order goes to one side to wait for parts, to let others get built. Parts become available- Brilliant, car gets built. Slotting back into the line.

I do not see what this quota system is doing. Except say move a Danish (for example) car in front of a British car just because the Brits have already sold more cars. The factory still builds the same amount of cars in the same amount of time. Or do they decide to have a break for a couple of weeks if every country has reached their quota?

All you will end up doing is annoying a customer, who could well turn around and tell the dealer where to go. Customer then goes to next best car in his short list, and Ford (for example) get another order!!

I for example wont wait, and if I hadnt been able to find a car on stock, I wouldnt have purchased.

Madrunner, what are you doing in a Skoda dealership, when you already have a RR Evoque? Youve already hit the top (manufacturer wise)

I agree its ridiculous. I know they need to plan and facilities on numbers for certain market specific derivatives but normally they would factor in over capacity to cope with new model launches and spikes in demand.

It's all gone a bit wrong somewhere.

Looking back when I ordered my VRs if I hadn't had a bike to use and the dealer lending me one of their run a rounds there's no way I would of waited this long.

I would have no problem if cars were delayed due to large numbers of orders. Afterall, getting in extra staff to cover large numbers of orders could backfire if later down the line orders drop. Likewise if there are delays in getting parts, again, not a problem (hence why i said cars would get put to one side if they reached the front of the queue, and certain parts were not ready).

As long as production at the plant stays at the same rate, I cant see how this quota system is helping with any spikes. Unless as i mentioned, all countries reached their quota, and the factory decided to go on a go slow. More than likely, all this is doing, is cars from another country getting pushed up the queue.

I reckon, more than likely, this is SUK setting their own quotas, so if one months orders are low, they beef them up with previous months orders which are over and above that months quota. Hence they can always turn round and claim they had plenty of orders every month. It should be stopped.

I think you are on to something here, as far as I am aware, the sales figures are based on the month of delivery, not the month of order, so restricting the supply via the quota system and hence increasing waiting lists enables SUK to control the dealers to a certain extent and smooth out their sales figures rather than having to publish a spike of sales at certain times.

Yep. For some reason they would prefer to sell 100 cars in January and 100 in February. Instead of 120 in Jan, and 80 in Feb. To me it makes no difference. But they seem to think there is.

*The figures ive used are purely an example, and im sure are by no means accurate sales figures

Production lines churn out a set number of cars a day, and they like to keep waiting times to an acceptable level in all their markets so it makes sense to tweak the offer to keep demand at a constant level.

Telling a Frenchman that they have to wait 8 months because the English have bought too many cars won't be popular.

Huh?  If a Frenchman bought a car before me, I'd expect him to take delivery first. The flipside to your statement is surely

Telling an Englishman that his car will be built after a Frenchman's despite ordering before him, just because not many other Frenchmen bought cars, won't be popular.

I'm still hoping for an improvement on my supposed 'week 16' build week (Ordered mid October).  It seems some are getting their lottery tickets come in today.
