My car is making a creaking noise too when turning at low speeds - a three point turn for example. Also the power steering is very crunchy at the end of travel and makes a rubbing noise into the bargain.  I suspect the steering rack but a split CV boot cover would be a good bit better.

Really? What sort of milage has your Octy done? Do let us know what the issue is when you get chance of have it checked.

It’s a 20 plate with 36k. I’m going underneath it tomorrow. I’ll let you know what I find that the mechanics couldn’t. 

Have seen mentioned before that top mounts can cause this noise.
