Stupid ass dealer forgot, can i fix it?

Featured Replies

When i ordered my car in june i told him that i want a double bottom , but my dealer forgot it. could i install it myself????

Not without a lot of expense I wouldn't think, as many of the boot trim components are different between the variable floor and the standard one.

Was it not listed upon your order form? If yes then insist that the dealer fit the parts at their expense, if no then you should have checked the listed options before signing and thus agreeing with the order.

Annoying, but mine didn't have one either, so I'm just in the middle of making one myself out of wood. Just gotta carpet it and put some hinges on now.

They just take up room in your boot, I don't see much point in them.

I found them an excellent security feature - all that crap useful stuff you keep in your boot can be hidden away from prying eyes - kind of essential with a combi as you don't always remember to use the roller blind luggage compartment cover.

Does the MKIII estate now have a flat boot floor when the rear seats are folded?

As previously the only way to get this was with the variable boot floor.

It can be retro fitted but it will not be a cheap process.

I got a VBF retro fitted to the Scout when I bought it as a £150(?) dealer fit option back in '08. Assuming it's the same as the Mk1 and Mk2s then the loops etc for the locking mechanism should be there.

Would imagine the dealer should be able to do it, just push them to keep it at the factory fitted price you agreed. Given it's their mistake I wouldn't expect it to be too hard.

Still the same in the mkIII. You need the variable boot floor to give you a flat floor all the way through when the seats are down.

Thanks, in that case it makes more sense IMO to have the variable boot floor than not to have it.

You don't 'loose' room either because there is storage (out of sight) under the floor.

The VBF of the MkIII is I believe totally different to previous versions and you need specific side trim panels in the boot.

Only makes sense if you need a flat floor, the only things I carry that require the rear seats down are bikes and they don't care if the floor is flat.

You must lose some space, as the boot is shallower so there's less space above the floor than a car without it, and the parts that make up the flat floor will take up space.

That's what the dealer said to me too. It cannot be retrofitted as it requires different interior trim in the boot, along with the vbf and the side mouldings. Hence I've made myself a slightly crude but working one my self.

So these people that wanted VBF but never got it. Did you get a discount? After all, youve been delivered a car you never asked for. That calls for a nice discount. Or you decline the car, and tell them you want a car with VBF. That'll mean another long wait though!!

Mine was the demo car so didn't have any choice on the options.

My Elegance was supplied without the back seat release from within the boot, cockup by dealer.

The reply was it was too expensive to change the trim, compensation was free spare wheel, and life shine.

My dealer had ordered the matt with rubber on one side and carpet on the other. Idiot.......
