VRs front mud flaps

Featured Replies

I'm sure this has been covered on here - picking car up on Saturday, dealer just tried fitted front mudflaps on my VRs and said they won't fit ?

I'm sure some clever person on here has already fitted them without too much trouble ?

Cheers

Hmm, bummer if they don't as I want some, I thought I read somewhere the fronts were ok, it's the backs which are the problem.

They fit front and rear fine . I fitted mine myself in half an hour with no problems whatsoever.

Nice one, thanks!

Cheers fella !

Just relayed the message on to the dealer and told them to figure it out !!!!

I was also told they fit fine as others on here have done it.......... going to try it myself when they arrive. Could be amusing lol ;)

Fancy fitting mine Lady V ?!!!!!!

Cant say i've done it before but if you fancying coming to Kent I can use yours as a guinea pig for mine ;) :P

Fronts take two existing screws out which go back in same place when fitting mudguards. You have to drill a hole on the inner arch with a 7mm bit and fit a plastic lig/screw in place of the third hole. All done with wheels on the car at full lock each way . easier with a 90 degree attachment for drill. Can't see why a dealer couldn't manage this, I wouldn't take my car near them for servicing etc if they couldn't manage mudflaps.......

Fitted mine, front and back.

Did not bother with the extra hole for the front ones.

Im liking the sound of that for mine lol. Not keen on the idea of drilling holes in my car......

Nor am I, it has potential ramifications on your cars body work warranty.

Wont affect warranty as it's required to fit an official product as per the supplied instructions. Your drilling through maybe 3mm of plastic on the inner wheel arch, your not going into metal or subframe.

I'm pretty sure the official line from Skoda is that these are not suitable for vRS. hence most dealers refusing to fit.

Yep thats the one lol

Just because a dealer won't fit doesn't mean it will affect the warranty of the car. The fronts for example need the third hole drilled for all models. You can physically feel behind the area needing drilled and nothing is in the way provided you don't go mad. I would be very surprised if the dealer were to win an argument with regards to warranty over a 7mm hole in the inner arch lining. I would expect the opposite if not fitted as recommended (ie. sir the fitment of the mudflaps without the third screw rendered them insecure and caused xyz) you may argue the mudflaps are not compatible with Vrs but all other models need the hole drilled I same place for correct fitment so this satisfied me

On top of above I recall the issue being fitment of rear mudflaps to Vrs due to different rear bumper (although they do fit) AFAIK all front are the same irrespective of model. I'd rather have correctly fitted parts.

The area of the bumper they fit to is no different to any other octavia though.

Or maybe Skoda's styling department don't want all their hand work undoing ;):D

I didn't like the idea of drilling holes in my new car either so, like NotSoSimple, I didn't bother. However I did attach the inner part of the mudflap to the wheel arch liner using a strip of automotive grade double sided foam tape - the sort of stuff that's used to attach number plates. This might sound a bit whacky, but after a motorway drive in wet conditions I think I can say it has worked.

Mine came with front and rear mudflaps fitted by dealer. Not sure if standard octavia ones or not but they seem to be a good fit
