Delivery Date Rant!

Featured Replies

I am now running my second VRS and they have been great, when I ordered my last one 3 years ago it had major delays resulting in the car taking 7 months to arrive. In September last year I took the decision to go for another new VRS, I visited the dealer and they said those problems were gone now and new VRS's were taking 12 weeks but actually arriving in 8 weeks! So mid October I placed the order for my third VRS for delivery end of Jan. I have just had a call today saying that Skoda UK have confirmed the car will be late and expect a 3 month delay!!!!! that means the delivery will be 25 weeks!!! I am seriously contemplating telling them cancel it, how can they be so disorganised and they really don't deserve new business. It really is a same because I love the car and was very excited about the new one.  Rant over!!

Ooo that's bad.  Did they give a reason?!  Have you ordered some odd / every option or is this about to happen to all of us?

Best you cancel.....and move me up the list ;). Sorry. I feel sad for you really

25 weeks, I would never wait that long for a production line car. Hand built thats another matter. Personally I would cancel and buy another make, it's not as if skoda are amazing value for money these days.

Ordered mine 02 Nov, picking it up 01 March.

Am I bothered....not really would prefer to get it in slightly better weather anyway.

But I understand your feelings.

Snap..

I also expected the delays and didn't listen to the dealers 'sales' talk on a brand new model taking only 10-12weeks.

Once demand goes down then expect to have a choice of built ones ready to go and quicker lead times on built to order.

I ordered and stipulated if by some miracle it arrives in dec/jan I want to wait for the new reg. (Knew it had no chance of arriving early)

Hang in there, its worth it. I waited 21 weeks

I have cancelled 2 previous VRS orders Mk1 & MK2 due to delays. I receive mine next week having ordered on 10/9 which is 17 weeks, in reality this is a VAG standard

I feel your pain, I've been told my car will be built w/c 19th Feb ordered on the 2nd October-original delivery date was 20th December. Just to rub salt into the wounds this is what I received on the day it should have been delivered. TBH on joining up to this forum I wasn't expecting to have my car then but not getting a build slot until then was a kick in nuts. I'm just going to hold out now but I'm not even that optimistic that this won't drift back, if I'd have known what I know now a couple of month back I'd have looked at alternatives, they're a ver nice car and I got a very good deal but it's been frustrating to say the least.

'The dealer has advised me that your order is currently showing on the

factory system as having a build week of w/c 19 February 2014; however I

have been informed by the dealer that they are expecting your order to come

forward.

We apologise for the delay in the build date, and are aware that this must

be frustrating; however this is out of our control.

Please be aware that this is the current build week showing on the system

but I must stress that the VRS orders are moving forward.

Please be assured that I will keep you updated on the status of your order

and as soon as I receive any changes in the status of your order, I will be

in touch.'

+1 I feel your pain, but really, did you expect any different?

Buy a car that's in stock if you want a guaranteed delivery date.  If you want a car that is built to your specification and is fresh off the car designers notepad, then be prepared for a wait.

I was hoping I'd receive my car inside four months having ordered 7th November, but it looks like I'm going to be disappointed (BW7)!  It just means you'll enjoy the car all the more when it arrives.

I'm probably worng but I'm of the opinion that the dealers been a bit liberal witht he truth with their quotas hence the later build date than expected.

Gwald, are you implying a salesman would LIE !

Regards

T

I was quoted 12 weeks...they are scared of missing out on your order, better to be paid on order and cancel than miss a deal. Remember sales staff psyche is next month will be their best month ever so they are less bothered about cancelled orders than closing your order

This situation seems incredible to me, it seems all VAG cars are suffering the same issues and have been now for the last 6years, how can one of the big players in the car market be so bad. I have done some ringing round today and can get a BMW in 6 weeks, to what ever spec I want! I don't think this is unreasonable for a new car but 25weeks is! I am afraid that after owning Skoda's for 6 years and loving them and preeching to everybody I meet what amazing cars they are, I am jumping ship this time!

Mine was ordered on 5th September, due for delivery beginning of Feb. Company car through a lease company who only deliver on 1st Monday of the month, so dont know if its sitting somewhere for me now, or even if its still due in Feb. Would have been nice to have a new reg, but its out of my hands. Its been a long 4 months so far, fingers crossed i'll only have to wait 5

Quoted 15 weeks tops for my SE; might be possible just, if they can get the car from factory build next week and delivered to me before the end of the month but I think that might be a little optimistic  :giggle:

Improvement on the Yeti mind, as that took a couple of days shy of 26wks.

Was worse in days of old when the commies were in charge.....

I had the same problem got a MK2 vrs which took 9 months to arrive in June 2011 the dealer had told me 3 months so SUK gave me a car at their cost for 6 months. I was told the situation would get better and would be sorted out but I have just ordered a Mk3 vrs and the same again a six month wait minimum. As long as the order book is full which it is at the moment Skoda do not care if you don't want the vehicle someone else will . This is typical VAG attitude to customers. They have removed the 0% finance and servicing form the vrs to try and slow down orders to get the ones built that have been ordered

Mine was ordered on 29 July. Still haven't got it. Told this week it may arrive 2nd week of Feb. That's 28 weeks!

I think I can top all of that.... I ordered a top spec VRS TSI on October 4th. I've been told it's build week 18 (April 28th) and that I shouldn't expect to see it at the dealership before June/July. The way I see it, it's costing them money every month I wait. I've agreed a PX price on my car with them and they will be paying through the nose for it come hand over time. The deal will be getting adjusted (lowered in price) when I take delivery since the final settlement fee on my current car will be lower.

So, even though the wait is annoying I know that I'm getting a really good deal once the car does show up. They can keep building it into 2015 for all I care. :)

That's a rather long time! Was there anything you ordered that's prone to delays? I ordered a highly spec'ed tsi as well 10th dec and mine is BW April 14th status 10 at the moment. It's good you have a fixed part exchange On your current car , I have similar on my deal.

My vRS has been put back till April / May time from early Feb.

I got this attached doc from a friend at a Skoda dealer. Pay attention to the top Right bit in red, hope it sheds some light.

I am lucky I'm still gonna get the same trade in price as agreed because I wont let the dealer budge!!

However if any of you wanna buy my Superb 2 Estate 140 TDi, its in the for sale forum, please have a look as I'd rather sell to a member than a dealer.

Cheers

This sheds some light on things. My Elegance 1.4TSi DSG is spot on(quoted 15 weeks on the sheet) and so far i've got BW8 which would mean 16 weeks from order..

Thanks for that data sheet link very enlightening into the cloak and dagger world of Skoda and their dealers  :giggle:

Interesting for me was the indication, that currently the SE 150 4x4 appears to be the ninth most popular Estate engine and trim combination, ahead of all other SE versions and the vRS bar the 184 manual; find this somewhat surprising as they are usually like rocking horse ...... to find on the used market  :wonder: Best seller by a notable margin being the 150 Elegance manual (should hold it's value then).

Also noted that  the majority of cars had to be at Emden status 36/38 by the 13th Jan and at the UK port by midday 24th status 40, to be in with a chance of being delivered to the dealer by the end of the month.

Those statements sort of unravel what my dealer told me on Wednesday, that there was a very good chance my WK3 build will make it for the delivery date of the end of the month :bandit:
