Delivery Date Rant!

Featured Replies

Ours has moved all over the place, ordered on the 6th of oct was told jan then got build week 18 then 14 and now told it's getting built next week. Apparently. Keeping my fingers crossed

I think I can top all of that.... I ordered a top spec VRS TSI on October 4th. I've been told it's build week 18 (April 28th) and that I shouldn't expect to see it at the dealership before June/July. The way I see it, it's costing them money every month I wait. I've agreed a PX price on my car with them and they will be paying through the nose for it come hand over time. The deal will be getting adjusted (lowered in price) when I take delivery since the final settlement fee on my current car will be lower.

So, even though the wait is annoying I know that I'm getting a really good deal once the car does show up. They can keep building it into 2015 for all I care. :)

I agree, you win!

My car should exist now, having ordered at the end of October. They can take their time getting it to the dealer as there's 6 weeks till I need it.

It's 5 months for many Audis.

I don't really understand how this is thought to be acceptable.  Manufacturers must lose a lot of sales compared to the days when they had airfields full of cars ready for delivery.   I will need to buy an additional car in a few months; it will be financed from a house sale BUT I will need the vehicle asap after that happens, within two weeks if I am to avoid having to buy a cheap s/h runabout or get a hire car with rear seats (I already have a car, but it only has two seats).  The Octavia is excellent value compared to, say, a Fiesta, but I bet Ford can whistle up a Fiesta in a few days.

On the verge of cancelling my order from 30/12/13 for a petrol dsg vrs. Was quoted 18 weeks as worst case, but looks more like another month on top now. Dealers have told me nothing so far.

I didn't realise when I ordered that I'd be getting my new car so close to when my 3year deal is up!! 10wk wait so far and based upon the above another 12wks is unfortunately in order. This appears to correlate to my provisional build week of 14.

I actually was at the dealer getting my current Octys it's last service and had to sit in the demo to remember what the new Octy felt like!!! I suppose it's hard to comprehend the lead times but it's even harder to comprehend why dealers just don't tell the truth and at least contact you with it!

Most of us were told 12-16 weeks but works out around 20 weeks

Due to parts...

My dealer didn't call me, to tell me the build date until after 12 weeks..

the factory tell the dealers 2 weeks before is due to be built so they can call you..

After adding electric tailgate to my vRS tdi manual estate ordered in Nov the provisional build week has jumped from week 8 to 18. FFS, I wish I hadn't bothered adding it.

I wanted to add the variable boot to mine, was pre-warned by SUK it could reset your build queue, apparently no way to tell if this will happen its a gamble, i guess this must of happened to you, sorry to hear yours moved back :(

I was emailing the dealer about various bits this lasts few days, all in all pretty responsive until I asked about indicative build week..... tumbleweed. ...mines is also petrol vRS DSG ordered 30th December.

Your best calling SUK, you simply need your own name, and the dealers name/location, remember to ask for the order number.

Thanks, this is on my to do list but am just a little bit scared, lol.

I see the Leon 280 is on carwow now so have specked one just to see what it comes in at but with no free servicing, 4.9% Apr and lead times looking like 16 weeks it's likely not a great alternative.

All of you ordering vRS's, and are told the lead time is down to parts etc. Show an interest in another model first, then ask about lead times on the vRS. Or go to another dealer, and show an interest in something different. You will then find out the actual reason lead times are so long on the vRS. Its because the factory is concentrating efforts on other models/ trims (So i was told). The attachment posted on the previous page seems to confirm this.

Also told those ordering a vRS dont mind/ expect the long lead times, because of what they are ordering.

Sort of made the vRS sound like a bespoke Rolls Royce in a sense

BW4 following a 14th October order date. SUK just confirmed on the phone this is still the case and delivery to my dealer mid to late Feb so hopefully they'll play ball and accommodate a '14' plate. Black vRS estate tdi - sunset, cruise, winter pack and canton. Oh, and dog guard. Am remaining very calm about the whole thing...

Bit the bullet and rang SUK.

Provisional build week 21 which is going to be around 24 weeks (or end May if I'm lucky) by the time it's ready for collection. They did say it may come

forward but they would wouldn't they!

That's a VRS TSI hatch with most options (but no problematic ones I'm aware of), ordered 30th December.

Just called Skoda but seems as though they don't have any record of the order yet (ordered 30/12). Have said they'll get back to me in 24 hours but got me worried!

Assuming this means the dealer has not put anything through?

Well I'd have to say it's odd solely on the basis ibordered same day and got an order number etc from SUK this morning.

Just received call from Skoda to say they don't have any order listed for me. Great!

They are now calling the dealer to find out what's happening. Can feel this being three weeks wasted though!
