Well I know all of you have been waiting with bated breath to hear what had happened in my saga with Arnold Clark Inverness.  Well SUK struggled for weeks and weeks to get someone to call them back and escalated it, from person to person (in which organisation I don't know). Then SUK finally phoned me last week (though I had had twice weekly phone updates) to say that Arnold Clark refused to pay me anything but that they are extremely sorry for what happened and that was that. SUK was also not going to help with anything. Hmmm...  yes thanks a bunch guys.

BUT then yesterday I got home and there was a hand written envelope addressed to someone with an Edinburgh post stamp on it. The reason I say someone is that between whoever at SUK that spoke to Arnold Clark in Inverness and this Arnold Clark person in Inverness speaking to their (I presume) HQ in Edinburgh, some Chinese whispers happened to my name and surname. My name became Gohann and also swapped to form my surname with a few other things as a name.  Bless.

Well inside said envelope, without any letter and only a "With compliments" slip, was a cheque for £50 also made out to this Gohann character.  :giggle: A deliberate ruse to make the cheque unbankable? Would I have such cynic thoughts?! Well it didn't work! After explaining a bit and assuring my bank (Natwest) that I won't get any more such cheques, they cashed it! Ha!

So Gohann is happy. And yes Arnold Clark, I won't post this story in the Arnold Clark dealer section of this forum.  Amazing what a bit of goodwill can do eh? Or should I post it as the one and only good thing they've ever managed to do?  :giggle:

Wow. So suk accepted to pay you £80 plus about £20 for fuel. Then reneged. Then you got a cheque from AC for half the correct amount made out to the wrong person in return for not posting anything bad in the dealer section of the forum (or did you add that bit) and Gohann is happy? You are a better man than I... :-)))

As I said there was no letter attached so Arnold Clark didn't ask for anything.

SUK also never agreed to £80 plus fuel. I suggested it and they said they will try to get it from the dealer.

Only reason I'm thinking of not posting to the dealer section is that they did do a gesture of good will. So they're not completely heartless. Nor am I.

They have enough of a bad rep in the dealer section, I doubt if their gesture of 'good will' will change anyone's opinion.

Certainly not mine.

Oh, you'd said they'd accepted your request to pay £80 plus fuel. I misunderstood.

They accepted to TALK about it and try to get the dealer to pay it, but they did not accept that it was a given that I'll get it.  As it proved.

It's still peculiar that they point blank refused to work with SUK and told them to tell me to fob off and then behind SUK's back sent me £50...  really weird.

So...at about 37 seconds, you see the RH rear wheel spinning in the air, and then stops abrubtly.

Is that the EDL working ?
