Impending DMF failure?

Featured Replies

Hi peeps....just need to know if anyone else has suffered a Dual Mass Flywheel (DMF) failure on their Mk2 Superb?

Driving back from Newcastle to Melksham (315m), when in traffic queues, stop start and so on.....I am getting a random metallic banging and crashing sound when I use the clutch and apply a small amount of power to drive. This went on for most of the journey back. When cruising, all appeared well, just noticed it when slowing down in queues.

Drove to Cardiff on Thursday - not a single problem!

Then, yesterday, drove to Bournemouth and has a few occurences of the problem. Went to park up, engaged reverse, and a real loud banging/knocking coming from the engine when clutch operated and reversing. Tried a few more manouevers, same thing, forward or reverse. Then on normal roadspeed driving, problem goes!

I am wondreing if its heat releated, as it doesn't seem to do this when cold?

BTW - Mileage is on 79,499 and car has olnly been serviced via Skoda Main Dealers, on variable servicing interval. No previous problems reported and no other error lights or indications as to problem.

Is this an early indictaion of the dreaded DMF problem occurring???? :wall:
