How Fast are Briskoda 2014 - Saturday August 16th

Featured Replies

You just need your photocard license on the day.

And a helmet.

Car helps too.

The indemnity form can be filled in on the day.

I'd suggest giving the shorts a miss though.

Understood Boss :)

I've had 2 E-mails  ,

Can we hire helmets from the circuit?

You can but they charge you for the privilege :)

I can bring a spare helmet.

I've heard that about hiring....

Here are last years times form How fast #3.  Just a bench mark to see if we have improved.

I can see this being interesting at the top!

Really sad to miss this, just back in the country on the day.

Looking forward to some dash cam footage of the Pink Golf and Yeti vRS duelling it out. Controversially I am going to give the edge to James I since the acquisition of the semi slicks and no doubt whatever tinkering is done to the mapping between now and then. No pressure Jamie ;)

Thanks Sparkly, I have had no mapping done yet, I need to get a mappable ECU!!  That won't be soon. I have replaced front bushings though so turn in should be better, also the tyres will help no doubt.... IF it is dry :rain:   :wonder:  if it does rain then I will be using the the Federals which the two fronts are on the wear indicators, so almost slicks  :D

If it rains, I will be on road tyres I suspect, and will probably be middle'ish like last time.  I hate trying to race in the damp as I am always really concious of the extra danger :D

If Jamie turns up with daft tyres it's his.

Otherwise I think it'll be a very interesting day with one of maybe five of us in with a chance.

Will certainly be close anyway.

Richard, I will bring the slicks, just so it rains. if I leave them at home then it will be sunny.  I will have the Federals on so it is evenly matched, might swap the fronts to the rears though as the fronts are mullered.

I always mentally delete non-Skodas anyway. ;)

Last time Jason was first and I came fifth. :D

Easiest way to gain places!

If Rain > a little bit = win for the Yeti

The fun bit is that there are some evenly matched cars from on here at the top, amusingly very different though when you think about it.

Best driver on the day is probably the likely winner

If Rain > a little bit = win for the Yeti

Touche Mr 4motion. :D

It is a bit of fun, no trophy and no prize money so who cares who wins, as long as we go to the pub for lunch then all will be ok.

Richard should be on fire as he will have had an hour or so in the morning to practice on the earlier session.

I am looking forward to seeing how a stock Fiesta ST compares.

Does it have the usual understeer properties of a light front wheel drive car?  OR does it have the electronic front diff trickery that will eat and heat your brake pads?

 On standard tyres I assume?

I think it's a pad eater James.

I will be on road tyres unless it's really good weather, then I'll put it's 888s on.

Mainly because I'm selling it afterwards so don't want to kill the front tyres.

I am looking for a hotel now so if I get booked in friday night, I might try and turn up early to observe the thrashing of the Ford.

Update, I have booked a hotel at kettering, only half hour drive in to the circuit, should get an early dart from work Friday afternoon to travel down.

Premier inn a bargain at £59. Just off the A14 jct 7 A4300. If anybody else wants to stay near'ish to the circuit.

Just for info I will (as always) be driving round in a mechanically sympathic manner to look after this delightful vehicle and if anyone would like to buy it please be aware it has been properly run in for you. :)

You mean driven how it was intended to be :)

You should charge a fee for running in so thoroughly.  :p

On the practice laps can you still take passengers out?

I seem to recall that you could but maybe this has changed.

Yeah - I try and spend that hour taking as many people out as possible but to be honest, everyone sort of wants to get a feel for the track, so it's more tricky for timing compared to a proper trackday.

Right, I need to work out what level of fuel to leave Devon with to turn up at Bedford with optimal fuel level :D (about 1/3 of a tank from memory)
