Service reminder @ 8600 miles?

Featured Replies

The service warning displayed on the maxidot display yesterday despite the mileage only showing approx 8600 miles and warns that a service is due in 800 miles ie at 9400 miles rather than at 10k miles. The car is not on variable servicing and although I have the first 3 services paid I do not want to service too early as if I do I may have to pay for a 4th service before the end of my PCP.

Can this be ignored as I would ideally like to service as near to 10k miles as possible but obviously don't want to risk invalidating the warranty.

I think that's actually correct.

You usually get a 1000 mile grace anyway as I rang and checked with the Skoda garage as we were about to go over due to not being able to get booked in sooner.

If you have had the car for 12 months, the service will be needed, rather than servicing by miles driven.

So, if you did 10,000 miles in 11 months your service would be due BUT in your case 12 months has passed before you have done 10,000 miles so your service is due.

 Hope that makes sense?

Fixed Servicing comes up as being 9,400 miles or 372 days.

Skoda UK are OK with the Oil & Filter Change service being done at 10,000 miles,

but just confirm that where you are having the 'Minor' or 'Major' service done.

Pics,

As it comes up as you reset the Service Indicator.

That's the one.

My last was a major... then next year I'm due a DSG oil change too... :wonder:

Fixed service is whichever come first:

15,000km which is actually 9320 miles rounded up to 9400 by the maxidot.

or

372 days (a rather odd year comprising 12 x 31 day months).

365 days plus 1 week, equals 372 days.

to allow for getting cars in on Holidays etc, not on the Anniversary of the car being First Registered or having a PDI.

The car might not go to a new owner for several days after being prepared for delivery.

& the 9,400 miles service getting done at 10,000 miles has been accepted without invalidating the Warranty.

because of the Vague wording of Skoda Warranties.

'

Serviced in accordance with manufacturers 'Technical Guidelines'.

When you turn up or ask for a service a month early with a Mileometer showing 600 miles before the 10,000 miles,

the Service Desk person sometimes asks why you are having it done early.

Thanks all for the replies I feel a bit more reassured now.

I'm still confused about the whole servicing schedule for my car. I've paid for 3 years servicing up front.

Bought the car from skoda in February last year late 62 plate on 1400 miles. Currently the car is on just over 10k miles.

I can't remember the exact amount but last I checked the service indicator there is still ages until a service is due.

The car is over a year old and I have owned it almost a year, to me I feel the car is due a service? Went into the dealer a couple weeks ago and he confirmed what the service indicator said.

Confused :/

Your on variable service regime, which can run upto 18000 miles or 2 years. These are the maximum figures, it usually triggers before that, based on driving style and oil quality sensor in the engine.

The Variable/Flexible Servicing Regimes are all good and well if you are doing High enough Milages and do not want to be in twice in a year for Oil & Filter changes.

But if you are doing low mileages and want it done after 12 months of usage,

with a Professional to look over your car & check it mechanically, and check other fluids because you do not do it yourself,

maybe best on Fixed 'Servicing & maintenance', rather than just thinking Oil Changes,

11k miles a year would probably be my max usage, so would I be better off on fixed? I I took my car in and asked them to service it and switch over service intervals, would they be happy to oblige?

Much depends on the Terms of your Service Plan,

What does it say they will do, as in Services and parts replaced during the period of the plan.

You want value for money, and just because an owner does the low mileage over the three years time, they still

want their vehicle checked, not just Oil & Filters.

your car needs to be on fixed if you have a service plan.

You need to get it booked in ASAP

Mine is currently on 9800(ish) miles and I've not had a Service reminder! :(

I know the car is on Fixed for the first 3x Services (which are gratis from Skoda) I'll probly just phone the Service Department later as a preemptive strike! :)
