Columbus Traffic display not working on Map - Superb II 2009

Recommended Posts

I have a 2009 Superb II Elegance with a the Columbus SatNav unit fitted.

After almost 5 years of working relatively OK, I have recently noticed that the Map no longer displays the "traffic problem" string of cars on the display.  I still have list of traffic announcements displayed when pressing the "Traffic" button on the unit.

The owners manual is not very helpful.  I am wondering if I need to reset the unit using factory settings in order to get this function working again.

Does anyone know how to get this working again as I do find it useful on my travels

Don't know if it's just a coincidence but my traffic problem marker's have been a bit erratic in the last couple of weeks with the TMC button occasionally saying no messages to display despite they're being plenty of traffic jams in the area. Maybe an issue at source rather than in car.

I got my car on 10th Dec and thought I should be seeing these warnings on the map but I haven't seen any, there were TMC announcements a few days ago for the M1 and I then zoomed in on that area but it showed nothing on the map, I was beginning to think my car didn't have that feature. I checked the settings and all seemed fine although I don't recall being able to turn this particular feature on\off?

There are a couple of settings if it's never worked...

Traffic information

Press the button SETUP ? Traffic information .

# Favourite TMC station - set your preferred TMC station

  # Automatic - automatic TMC station finding

  # select favourite TMC station from a list

# TMC filter - setup display of the traffic reports

  # All - displays all current traffic reports

  # On Route - only display traffic annoncements which relate to the route being driven

# Traffic program (TP) - switches traffic program on/off

...but if it used to work and you've not changed anything then it is most likely at the transmission end.

do see the symbols on motorways and trunk roads but not very often.

I believe it may be a data issue as the number of messages now being received is a lot less than before. This started for me before Christmas.

The road works on the A23 at Handcross Hill were a permanent feature but now they do not appear.

The problem is now solved.  Suddenly started working again on 25th Jan after at least 3 weeks with no information.  Must have been a problem with the traffic info coming out of Capital Radio
