VRS trashed at Grimsby Dock

Featured Replies

I used to work in car transport a few years back and although not a regular problem we had breakins about 2-3 times a year. alloy wheels was always a favourite but they always went for the cars at the far side of the compound jacking them up and removing the wheels, it would have been easier to take the spare out the boots as all cars were open. we then lost about 10 radios one night. the bright spark of a manager insisted all cars were locked. next weekend at the overflow compound 17 smashed side windows and 17 radios missing. we also lost 1 new Astra GTE.

With the size of the compounds they are very difficult to secure and unfortunately if anyone gets in they are virtually impossible to find in amongst all the cars we regularly had 3 to 5000 cars in the yards

I feel sorry for what you have gone through.

I have learnt over the years, that shouting is not always the best. When I had my OctyII which was sawtoothing, I am managed to get 4 tyres changesd and tracking done by Skoda when their first offer was 'Pi-- Off.....

I then had another issue where the car was out of warranty as I was a high mileage driver, and I was looking at a bill of some £500.00 as I had put a 3rd party warranty on the car. After some negotiation I managed to get Skoda to pay the difference, and managed to get a reduction in other charges.

the result is - I bought another one.......

I know it is not as big as the problems you have gone through, but sometimes it does take for perseverance as the first person may not be allowed to give such a good offer (same with mobile phone contracts etc etc).

Guys, I've joined this forum just to reply to this post. I've tried to read most posts. Although bear with me if I mention something that's already been mentioned!

But... I'm a delivery driver and work out of Grimsby delivering Skoda Audi and VW. And I can say that the docks hasn't been broken into within the compound.

From the railway, it's not possible to get into the compound.

There is 24hr security with constant activity and dock workers working 24hr moving cars.

And to top it off, if the car was broken into, why would they take the steering wheel, when all the cars have the keys in them anyway??? I delivered the vrs to Grimsby Skoda.

Had to get that off my chest, as I find sales staff to lie quite often!

Sorry for not introducing myself,

I'm Ben from Doncaster, for Skoda fabia vrs owner, brother has a octavia vrs, now I have a BMW 3 series. Loving the new octavia vrs. Just not liking the 25 week delivery time.

Hope I can help in the future.

Ben.

So what did / does happen?

Well here is an interesting update. I finally got the parts list for my stolen steering wheel car which has clearly been in an accident. I have rejected the car and I'm awaiting the offer from Skoda on what they will do discount wise for the replacement.Buyers beware Meteor Grey VRS Diesel hatch Vin No TMBBK9NE7E01251135E0419091KBGW STEERING WHEEL 15E0419685DYMS TRIM 15E0807217F FRONT BUMPER 15E0807905A FOIL 15E0839901 TRIM 15E0853369B9B9 LINING 15E08536872ZZ INSCRIPTION 15E0853761AF9R COVER STRIP 15E08671979B9 COVER 15E0880201BIZY AIRBAG 15E0885375E PADDING 15E0885405KBGO SEAT COVER 15E0885701E34E SIDE BOLSTER 15E0919719AWHS MULTI.BUTTON 15E5839431C5AP SLIDING WINDOW GUIDE 15E5839479 WINDOW SLOT SEAL 15E5845205B DOOR WINDOW 15E5845213J5AP SIDE WINDOW 15E5857447BRAA SEAT BELT 15E5867211 DOOR TRIM 15E5867765C9B9 TRIM 15G0886373 GROMMET 25J6853687ADBTK INSCRIPTION 25JA853621AUL SKODA EMBLEM 15JA8536872ZZ INSCRIPTION 15L0881743 CLIP 165Q0953549C ELEC.MODULE 1N90799102 BOLT 1

Great news, been following this thread with interest having waited 5 months for my vRS which I picked up on 1st March. I also had some minor issues, certainly no comparison with yours, which KW also sorted out with terrific customer service. A little bird tells me that certain people at SUK  follow these threads (which IMO is testament itself to the value SUK place in their customer service) so I hope she gets the recognition she deserves. Or he... :bandit:

Enjoy, still lovin' mine

I've been to VAG UK, and can confirm that they do indeed watch the forum as I saw several people with Briskoda on their screens.

Fabulous news. Happy motoring! Easter, bank holidays, time off work, chocolate, sun and a new car. What's not to smile about?

Good news. I wouldn't be too hard on the original customer service people, or too impressed with KW. It's typical of these large companies that people lower down the chain have strict instructions and are there to prevent any company money being spent. A lot of customers roll over and give up. Anyone tenacious enough to keep pushing eventually gets to a KW who apologies, rebuilds trust and waves her magic wand.

Glad its sorted for you though, it certainly seems like the cars are well "run in" at Grimsby, very worrying.....

Glad it's been well sorted for you and you feel the car is worth the wait :)

I've just read this full thread as I've not been on the forum much in the last couple of months with starting a new job. Anyway I'm just glad you got sorted in the end Deano and sorry for the grief originally. It needs to be said that you also chose the best colour ;-)

I have to second your experience with Skoda UK, when I ordered mine last August there were the issues with build delays and what my dealer was telling me did not match the info others were given from their dealers or SUK. After emailing and speaking to Skoda UK they chased up, kept me up to date and I ended up getting my car in about 9 weeks (my dealer still says this was the fastest they have ever gotten one). SUK even called me back a couple of weeks after collection to make sure I was happy and everything was OK aswel. They were also excellent with an issue we had with the wife's Citigo so they are ok in my book.

Hope you get many years of hassle free motoring now pal, think you deserve it :-)

Great news.

Photos please.

Enjoy at last!!

Hi

I have just been looking on Briskoda for details about connecting iPod after taking delivery of my new VRS last Thursday.

I then came across your tale of woe and guess what......................I had another one of the cars that was damaged but I have actually taken the repaired car.

You did much better than me as I ended up in a 4yr old 1.2 Yeti bog standard model.

I eventually found out that the cars were actually damaged while on the train from the Czech Republic, all similar damage and a host of steering wheels taken.  There was then various damage to trim and replacement windows which were all back order.

I never received the offer of a prioritised reorder even though I spent well over 2hrs with the dealer, I was then under the impression I was still going to take delivery of the car 1st March which was the dealer BS.

So I eventually got the car last Thursday 17th April, 4 months later than expected and 4 months for Skoda to repair.

Having said that, the car is lovely and I can't identify any damage.

Glad you got your's sorted, sounds like you did much better than me!

Welcome to Briskoda, waksaj. That is interesting information about where the cars were damaged. Enjoy yours. :)

And, remember to look suspiciously at anyone with a vRS steering wheel in another model... (is there a difference?)
