First Service coming - What VCDS should I ask them to fettle?

I'm Back! :)

I didn't get charged any extra, as they had to hook it up to check why I was on Variable Servicing! Needs to be fixed until I have my 30,000 service, then it can go back to Variable! :)

Anyhew... I had them tweak only two things:

1, Anti-Hijack/AutoLock at 15Km/h - Mainly as I drive through Slough and London at 6am and there are times when I'm sitting at traffic lights and you see a gang of 'Yoofs' It's a little scary (I'm a 40 year old White Male, I'm Large!, but a big Softy!!)

2, Doors Unlock on Key Removal - Nice little feature

I didn't want 'One Click Opens ALL doors' for the same reason as No.1, as sometimes I have to stop in various spooky Carparks and only My door opening is better!! The Wife just has to stand in the Rain till I remember to hit the button twice!! :D

I also didn't have the 'Chirp' turned on...

I may change my mind in 6 months when I get the 20,000 mile service done!! :p

If you want to have anti hijack and stuff activated that's fine, I'd rather have ease of convenience as I don't have any need for doors to lock as I pull away

and unlock as I pull the key out.

My wife has anti hijack on her car as she prefers it, as always, it's horses for courses.

whats the point of making the lamps with them in if they never work

Only in the vrs they are disabled and i do not think you can have the coming on either (there is a tread on here that explains)

I have needle sweep on my Monte. So i think it's possible to activate it for all models with Maxi-dot?

PS - The Vrs steering assist., it's much better i really recommend it!

Mine is going to dealers on fri  to have new tyres on so will ask for them to do needle sweep for me (someone on here said you cannot have needle sweep on a monte) :|

Never thought of asking for that, my motorbikes always used to do it when you turned the key, it's pointless I know but it puts a smile on your face.

The one push to open all doors is a good idea if it can be done, as if u open just the drivers door and then see a m8 and stop to talk/give him a lift u have stop the engine and press to open all doors....pita...lol

One press lock/unlock is the way to go.

Don't forget to consider enabling teardrop wipe.

Oddly my VRS had its steering set to "Light Vehicle". I'm not sure if that's normal but I've changed it to VRS/GTI and it does feel better.

What is the tear drop wipe, I get a single front wipe if I move the right-hand lever down?

After you use the washers does it just do a few wipes?  Or does it do a few wipes,  wait an appropriate time for the annoying teardrop to start running down the screen and then do one further wipe?

I've just had my MonteTech serviced for the first time this week and forgot to ask for a couple of changes. I think I'll look into getting a lead from Ross Tec and learn to do it myself. Expect MANY questions lol.

Ah, that sounds good, that drip always annoys me, that another one for the list, thank you :)

Mine went in for its first service today, I had them activate the anti-hijack function - I really can't fathom why this isn't a standard feature...?!

I also asked that they check the steering is correctly set to vRS/GTi - the service guy stated that this could not be done as the vRS has mechanical steering, not electronic. Hmmmm. think I will have to find a friendly Briskie member to have a look instead!  :wonder:

It's not standard because not everyone likes it, we don't live in Johannesburg so I don't want all the doors to lock as soon as I move off.

Asked for this at my local dealer, but was told I "don't have auto wipers so it can't be enabled". Even tried to explain to the tech what it was but just got a confused face. :wall:

These people really should not be working on customers cars.

Please let the Dealership Manager or Workshop manager that they have technicians there that have a lack of familiarity with the vehicles they are working on.

No wonder some can not rectify simple faults.

Letting plonkers like these loose on your steering could be dangerous.

It's standard on Citroen (when I had the DS3 courtesy car after my fender bender), My Mates Renault Clio does it too!

On the Clio my wife had, you had to set it yourself by holding the central locking button down for a few seconds, it didn't come out the factory like that.

Just because it's standard on some Citreons doesn't mean it should be standard on a Fabia. If you want it set then get it done via VCDS, I'm glad it's not standard that's all I'm saying.

My SE with VRS/GTI steering setting will confuse the hell out of him then.

I asked a dealer to change mine first. Told me it cant be done because it will interfere with the airbags and abs system, as they work off the same sensor.

I didnt argue, i didnt want him touching my car after that little comment.

Yeah, it is a bit worrying. Apparently that was from the service manager....

Oh, and the service guy that checked my car in said he had never heard of 'anti-hijack' or of being able to adjust things 'with a computer'.

It is called 'Automatic Locking',  and is in Page 37 of the Owners Handbook, Half down the right column.

Tells how it locks all the doors and boot at about 15 km/h

**" If you wish you can have a specialist activate the automatic locking function".**

SOME MIGHT THINK THAT MEANT A SKODA DEALERSHIP WORKSHOP!!!

The 'Steering Assist' has  settings to assist 'Disabled drivers or those with needs for greater Steering Assistance'.

& equally can be set to give less assistance.

Skoda have a Website Page that sets out the assistance and adjustments available for Disabled Drivers.

The Dealership Motability Specialist should know what is available,

and surely the Workshop knows how to do a 'Modifications for Disabled Drivers'.

& they should be resetting cars being returned to Factory Settings, before they go for Re-sale.

The Braking Assistance can also be adjusted.   All set out by Skoda/Vag and a reason that Skoda are popular with those getting cars through Motability.

Those in a Dealership that do not know the Vehicles & the Functions and Functions that can be Adjusted to suit users,

really should Step Away from the Tool Box. Or the Service Reception Desk.

Just make the Coffee and straighten up the Leaflets at the Waiting area,

maybe read some Skoda Literature.
