First Service coming - What VCDS should I ask them to fettle?

Featured Replies

I've got my Baby's first Service booked for tomorrow... 10,000 miles already!, and only 6 months old!! Anyhew...

I've got no problems with the car!, it's running sweet as a nut!.. But I want a few bits tweaked on the VCDS.

I'm thinking:

a, Auto-Lock/Anti-Hijack - ON (as it's not currently on)

b, Chirp on Lock - ON

c, Set too Fixed Servicing! - For some reason the car is on Variable and I have the first 3 services Free from Skoda!!

What other Settings would be useful??

Cheers Guys

Sim :)

All doors open on one button press is a must for me.

The Chirp is quite loud, factor this in when deciding if you want it.

I like my steering assist set to - GTI/vRS Mode, can get them to check if yours is.

I also have large MPH readout, but some dealers will be retiscent to do this as it means changing the cars country to AUS.

been searching this myself ready for when I collect my new Monte Carlo and have come up with this list;

Single button press opening of all doors
Beep and Flash on unlock
Anti hijack
All doors unlock on key removal
Needle sweep
Coming home lights on (if possible)

Hope this helps!

Seconded on the chirp on locking/unlocking.  Had this on mine breifly but was embarrisingly loud and would draw a lot of attention when parked up in dodgy areas.

Isn't that the whole point, it needs to be loud if in dodgy areas so the scroats know the car is alarmed.

As for the coming home lights, I don't think it can be done neither can the cornering fog lights.

How do you get the bloody side lights to work? Do you lose the drls?

I saw a guy unlock his 05 plate fiesta the other day, and the side lights came on when he did so, then turned off when he got in and started the engine.

Can this be done on a fabia? Or is it just a ford thing do we think?

Probably a Ford thing, why would you want your lights to come on, isn't the flashing indicator lights and chirp enough.

Re the Fiesta,

did the sidelights not come on, Because he has then set to work with alarming/setting his aftermarket alarm,

& because they are the type you can leave your Sidelights on and they go out when you take the key out.

Start the car and the Sidelights you left on come on.

Thats what happens with my Picanto.

Or some have there sidelights wired up front and back now to come on automatically, as though they are DRL's.

The DRLs dim for side lights. 501s in headlamps do not work

No needle sweep only vrs and no coming home lights

same here, very loud - I had mine removed soon after having it put on as I leave for work at 5am and didn't want to become too unpopular with the neighbours.

All doors unlocked with a single press is good though.

Cant have the chirp because of the times i go in/out and i some neighbours i actually like haha.

I just thought it looked cool. No real purpose. Haha

His didnt churp either by the way.

I never gave it a thought about my neighbours but my car gets parked in my garage overnight so doesn't really affect anyone.

I only had it activated so would be little skanks know my car is alarmed just in case they want to help themselves to my Amundsen when it's parked up at work or in town.

The one press lock/unlock is the best feature and when I asked for the cornering/coming home lights the technician said it couldn't be done to the Fabia.

I think coming home lights is only for cars with auto lights. Is it now?

Iv got:

1. One touch unlock (was doin my head in pressin it twice)

2. Anti hijack

3. Unlock when keys removed from ignition.

4. Vrs steering (so much more sensitive and responsive in corners at higher speeds, cant really tell around town)

The DRLs dim for side lights. 501s in headlamps do not work

whats the point of making the lamps with them in if they never work

Glad to see so many like the `all doors unlock` on one button press....why it isnt standard is beyond me  :wall: ..I have a Roomster so same set up as the Fabia, can it be altered on the maxi dot or is it a vcds job..thanks

Has to be done via VCDS mate, the Fabia and Roomster have the Maxidot lite which doesn't give full parameter adjustments.

The one press lock/unlock was the first thing I asked for.

Even my wife's Fiat 500 allows you set the anti hijack and things like that via their Maxidot system.

I think comfort indicators being changed from 3 to 5 flashes is useful as well.

Dealers don't use VCDS - they use VAS and there won't be an option to have a large MPH readout (although it can be done).

Make sure the dealer agrees to do it FOC as part of the 'free' service. There's a good chance they will want to do it as a separate chargeable item.

Interesting thread - I've a vRS on order and had a couple of questions based on the above comments:

What is the needle sweep change, and does the vRS come with the steering assist set to GTI/vRS Mode automatically?

TIA

I think the simple theory is if your on your own it gives you the option to unlock the drivers door and stop the possibility of a unwelcome person sliding in to the passenger side when you least expect it.

I admire the idea but can be frustrating but Vauxhalls are the same and 3 of them over 5 years so got used to it

The anti hijack feature is a pain in the @rse if you regularly give lifts as it it means having to unlock every time the person wants to get in/out.

It's a good idea if you're a lone female driving then it gives some security and reassurance but we hardly live in South Africa, it's not like we're the car hijacking capital of the world.

Also, we're driving Skodas which are hardly the car of choice for hijackers, Ferarris, Porsches, Range Rovers maybe but not Fabias. I know we like our cars and a Brisky member was recently a victim but he was an acception rather than the rule.

No needle sweep only vrs ....

I have needle sweep on my Monte. So i think it's possible to activate it for all models with Maxi-dot?

PS - The Vrs steering assist., it's much better i really recommend it!

I like anti hijack. If im driving around at night, in a city, its extra reassurance.

Im male, 21 years old, and not at all bothered about walking around at night, anywhere. But if i stopped at traffic lights and some drunken idiot jumped in the baxk and told me to hand over my phone, theres not alot you can do when your in the front. Just that extra precaution isnt it.

Its not that much of a pain if your droppin somebody off, it unlocks the doors as soon as you pull the interior door handles.

Youve only got to press one button if somebodys getting in. Not that difficult is it.
