Bought a VRS, now everyone drives like fools

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I bought a TDI VRS last weekend, and this week I have had no end of people overtaking, undertaking, overtaking on dangerous roads, trying to go in the wrong lane to get past, flashing me, trying to race, wheel spinning off lights beside me, etc etc.

Its not like its a boy racered up thing, its a plain basic standard VRS estate, i have posted pictures elsewhere. I drive it like i have always driven, i dislike people infront of me and always try to avoid being in peoples way.

And the thing is the cars that have overtaken are anything that would even cause me to sweat if i wanted to race them, last night for instance... on a single country lane in heavy rain and floods, 40 zone, me doing 45, a Navara type truck tries to get in my boot then roars past after a run up and puts 2 wheels on the verge on the other side of the road. Then again on a country road barely 2 cars wide a 51 plate diesel Mondeo slooowwwllllyyy overtakes me in a 30 zone, I might have been slightly over the speed limit at the time, not sure. Its round blind bends this mind you. And then today im on a dual carriageway minding my own, doing 70 and a mk2 golf GTi slammed to the floor tries to race me, i end up because of traffic past him just staying in my lane etc and he eventually flies past at probably 100 grinning at me. Whats that about? I was eating a McDonalds BLC at the time.

My conclusion is that when you own a VRS its not you that drives like a fool, its everyone else, which is why your insurance goes up.

  • Absolutely love this.. I also wear a white shirt with black epaulette's, which heightens the fun in this game.

  • "I may have been slightly over the limit" or "I certainly wasn't driving below the limit" may have passed off better lol.

Debadge it.

I had the same thing in my car until I disguised it.

PS,

You're brave posting some of that here

*some text missing....*

Good luck.

I had the same thing when i bought the Octavia,, I still get this problem when i drive the company Nissan Navara,, Dunno what people's problems are these days....

Can't say I have ever experienced that at all.

I disagree I'm yet to have any problems my previous cars were Evo's and Renaultsport Clio's you couldn't go anywhere without someone trying to prove themselves (and fail!!!)

i get it allll the time in the Abarth, as soon as you put a "sporty" badge on it people think you want to race! lol

I've just started slowing right down! lol upsets them more, then when they try and overtake i just speed up and block them.

Obviously i don't do it for normal people! but as soon as someone sits on my arse or tries racing me............ lol

Thanks guys, I thought i was maybe doing something wrong. Obviously not! I cant imagine pretending to race a 170bhp Octavia in a 115bhp Clapped out Mondeo! I would be worried they might actually want to race and leave me red faced!

Mmmmm McDonalds, aaaaaaaaaand now I'm hungry.

Cheers Mate

I would remove that as your admitting to speeding!!!!

I cant now! Oops.

I was trying to highlight that even though I wasn't holding them up they still made the point of overtaking.

ooh figured out how to edit it!

To be honest if you have got a good sandwich to hand then you might as well give the throttle a couple of blips at the traffic light, wait for it to go green with your hands on the steering wheel and then just take another bite of your sandwich whilst they shoot off meaninglessly.

Iv edited now!!!

As an officer said to me once!

"Young man! Its not a goal its a limit!! Keys in the name laddy."

Speedo over reads by that much you are probably holding traffic up when you think you are doing 35

I get this on the motorway. I poodle along at the speed limit and some bellend sits behind me (I clearly have someone infront of me so can't go faster) I get so frustrated with **** cars up my tailpipe, as soon as the car infront moves out the way I dump it.
