A bit of a change, Audi A5 3.0 TDI. Slow progress thread..

Featured Replies

Right so time to make a thread before i loose track of what i have done as many know my memory is terrible!

So it will be slow progress as main goal is air ride which is mega money unfortunately! :( but will try to keep the small things coming

So here it is

Posted Image

Picked it up last saturday done just over 500 miles in it already! That includes the just over 200 mile journey back from yorkshire where i got it where like an idiot i was paying too much attention to the buttons and computer that i went past the m25 turning and ended up in the centre of london.. Haha

Anyway on with the mods, number plate bulbs changed over to whole LED units

Posted Image

Really bright, light up the whole road!

Posted Image

Really like the LED DRLs but not the yellow fogs :(

Posted Image

ordered some 5000k bulbs for the fogs will get them fitted tomorrow

Also had a small pin dent on the rear N/S rear wheel arch popped out by the dent man we use at work but unfortunately had no before pictures so no point with an after lol

Plans for tomorrow are

- fit fog light bulbs

- clean and detar

- clay

- mop out the swirls

- hoover and wetvac the floor mats

- dye the very slight mark on the drivers bolster that is annoying me

I will try to keep this updated as much as possible just need that air ride hahaha

:) i keep forgetting theres this section

Ahh ha Adam lives here now !

So i started today gave the car a quick clean and a bit of a clay and got on with the mopping (im no pro so did as well as i could!)

Once i finished mopping there was a few swirls left and some small scratches but will get my mate to flat and polish them out for me at a later time :)

Gave it a polish up with 3m ultrafina and black mop head, heres the result

Then while i had been doing the exterior i had been applying thin layers of my leather dye into the small damaged area now it looks great!

(Seat looks filthy for some reason in that picture but it is actually very very clean :)

Forgot to clean the seats first (although not that dirty) will give them a good clean tomorrow and add a couple more coats of leather dye to finish off the bolster :)

In love with this interior :)

Tomorrow will now be fitting of interior LEDs, fog light bulbs and the other bits on the interior as mentioned :)

Like the A5 a lot, but not sure why you want to fit bright lights to the fogs. Doing so will make them useless in fog, which is only when they should be used. Yellow is the perfect colour since it cuts through the fog and you can see where you are going.

Completely understand what you mean but where i live and my journey to work consists of joining the a2 towards london surrounded by rush hour traffic and a well lit up road i have never actually needed my front fogs the only reason they go on is because i have had the rear on, now this car uses them as coming home lights they just look odd with the DRLs so its more for styling purpose :)

Adam,

Which leather dye are you using, My new A8 needs some TLC on its drivers seat as well.

Ebay item 251221226211 awesome colour match to my ivory interior i got just the small touch up pen as it was only the bolster i needed it for, i think they do bigger pots of it :) rub it on and then lightly go over it with a clean cloth to get the excess off comes up great!

Lovely car that mate. More pics needed though so get cracking! :-)

Thanks mate :) been looking through air ride set ups may go 4 way paddle set up rather than air lift v2 management, £700 extra for the v2 would just need to find a place for buttons and gauges of the paddle stuff

Really nice car dude.

My mate has got one very similar and they certainly shift :)

Look forward to any updates.

V2 kit is about £2699 and manual kit is about £2000 or £2200 but i cant remember! Lol

I will take it along at some point but at the moment im just enjoying driving it so its standard so wont fit in!

That looks stunning Adam :)

Right so looking at it i just cant justify the money so i have decided to keep it as it is then sell it in a months time and buy myself a new skoda citigo

Ha! No chance! Only joking, decided on wheels i think and air is still deffo in the plans, will see how money is next month and there may be a big purchase in order

In other news i got the private plate on today will do until i can find one thats relevant to me lol

Maybe i should of turned the number plate lights off

Thinking of getting this grille, maybe in full black and changing the back rings to black and take off the a5 and 3.0tdi badge

tvhz.png

That grille will be great, especially colour coded :)

My advice would be to avoid black rings.

I was going to do that but it just looks like someone has

nicked the badge. Careful with that RS5 grille too.

Make sure the bumpers are the same fitment point wise.

Again I looked into RS3 grill for mine but didn't want to

fettle it to make it fit as the bumpers aren't the same.

If you buy genuine then they are loads of money so be certain it

will fit as you'll not get all your money back selling it on.

There's a black B7 S4 at work with black rings at the rear. It looks a bit odd, almost like 'plan b' to complete removal. The grille on the other hand, I like a lot!

so at 8pm this evening i turned up at Robs house (W8 Performance)

5bwi.jpg

he plugged in his laptop to my car sent off the file of my ecu to Shark Performance, they are on odd hours at the moment as Ben at Shark is apparently in New York so as we was not within the hours they had said we decided to take the car for a spin as Rob hadn't been in it yet, while out for a drive Robs phone went off, a message for Shark saying my map was uploaded and ready to go! so quickly back to Robs he put it on and we went for another drive...

just one word.. WOW  biggrin.png

Massive thanks to the Shark Performance guys for doing my map out of hours even when on holiday!

Also once again thanks to Rob @ W8 Performance for sorting it all out!

Would strongly recommend that anyone that needs anything for their cars give W8 Performance a call! a really helpful guy and can source pretty much anything thats needed! smile.png
