Don't understand why you say it does obstruct vision.

And I don't understand why you think the wires are not a distraction to me. After all, I understand that they may not be a distraction to you.

  • Disagree. Doesn't obstruct visibility at all.

Nope, not in 12,000 miles, no distraction at all., not to me at any rate. Wouldn't hesitate to have one on my next car either. Each to his or her own, of course.

read the interweb.  not everyone gets on with heated screens as some peoples eyes can see them all day long. others get used to them in ten minutes and dont notice them again.

Are you guys really arguing over whether or not the other one is or isn't distracted by a window?

It wouldn't be briskoda without every thread turning into a slanging match! I wish I could get my £20 for Freedom membership back :(

lol! seems to have gone that way recently :(

I've never known a forum like it, but then I've never been on a forum without moderators.....

There's no arguments from me.

Which is why I said "EACH TO THEIR OWN"

I agree. This forum sucks, big time through the thug like attitude of some participants.

Neily03 you have my sympathy. I'm just glad I didn't waste £20 myself. Skoda say they sell their cars to "Happy Drivers" . Clearly they don't visit here. Moderation doesn't exist. You can't make a comment or express a view without someone or other verbally beating you up.

I learned what I needed to learn about Skoda from some excellent members here, but the unnecessary aggression and unpleasantness from a few thug like participants who carry on completely uncontrolled has ruined this site for me.

Strong words.

All I said was the heated screen is a distraction to me. We are allowed a difference of opinion, especially since both opinions are probably facts.

Try another one then.

Took you three posts to reach the conclusion though.

Know how you feel, I too got on the receiving end of a verbal battering over punctuation and sentence building... hence my signature. Turns out that the letter I sent to SUK, mistakes or not, had a very good out come for me..

Least: Heated windscreen - obstructs my view all year for the sake of 10 mins a handful of days every year.

I experienced similar issues with my first heated (Mondeo) screen 10 years ago. My eyes kept focusing on the wiggly wires and it was extremely distracting. 10 years later I do not notice the wires so much within other cars, probably because my eyes have aged and acuity has reduced. I guess some people notice them and some people don't, like with girls who have hairy ears :wonder:.

On a more practical note, a couple of questions for the heated screen fans:

How long does it take for it to defrost a heavy ice coating?

Does the extra expense of replacing a shattered screen add significantly to your insurance premium?

Most - Panoramic Sunroof

No more than a couple of minutes to defrost and it shouldn't make a difference to your premium. I've had 4 Fords with heated front screens and I don't ever recall being asked about them.

I understand the points made about the elements in the window. They never really bothered me either only in the dark when they could occasionally play havoc with the relationship between my eyes and the headlights of oncoming traffic.

Winter pack was my second top option, after metallic paint (which everyone seems to be overlooking, lol ) the heated screen being the must have element of that pack, pun intended!

Dodgy as far as I am concerned rant over, dead and buried - please don't re-ignite it.

First option on my list was Race Blue Metallic, I guess everyone else on this thread opted for solid colours!

Yeah,

Race Blue and my spare wheel is fine!

Most: cruise control

Least: Kessy

Based on my vRS order. Keyless entry is expensive and you still have the "hole" in the steering column where the barrel would normally be.
