Best factory fitted option.....

Featured Replies

If you were limited to one factory fitted option only, which one would it be?

And which one is the least appealing?

I think my first choice would be the LED rear light or spare wheel - boring but practical, I know.

I have no doubt that to my mind, the least attractive/useful option has to be the vRS noise generator. Lovely car, but what a weird idea!

Most = Cruise Control

Least = High beam assist

This is based on my future car, the vRS.

Most appealing - heated windscreen.

Least appealing - colour maxidot.

Thats not an option though.

Most:Heated seats or windscreen.

Least: stupid fake exhausts on the vrs diesel. Please can I just have the twin pipe at the back?

Oh that's not an option?

I forgot that, Neil.

I think that it ought to be a choice, as evidenced by the 'how to disable' threads.

What's with all the sweaty socks and their heated accessories, I've only had to boil the kettle twice to clear the screen this winter, woosses the lot of yer.

Most:- Boot netting system.

Least:- Adaptive cruise control, the wife is far more capable of telling when I'm too close to something on the horizon.

Isn't this just personal preference?

Best: DSG / Winter pack -> both becasue of the miles I do

Least: keyless -> cos I don't see the point.

Because heated screen saves me a few minutes in bed every morning at the moment. Also very good for clearing heavy breathing.

Heated seats. Saves me putting my jacket on and off in the morning or having to stop and take it off whilst driving/ waiting for the car to warm up. Again more time in bed.

Can you tell I hate getting up early? ;)

on the VRS

most = ACC

Least = traffic sign recognition

I'm a Postie and I love early mornings, its not the same now but, the wife use to call me bored in a traffic jam on her way to work as I was eating breakfast before going out for 18 at the golf course.  Sadly, nowdays I'm having to eat lunch at the golf course instead, I still get the 18 in though.

Most - ACC

Least - Variable boot floor

Very subjective, but for me:

Most: 'Black pack'

Least: Cruise control

Most: Sound generator - I want it on eco! (Is this possible?)

Least: boot netting.

Well I've only ordered one extra so I guess Most for me is the sunset glass  (it would be sparewheel if it was full size but since its not, I've sorted my own))

least - colour maxi dot

I tend to think there are a whole host of options that don't add much to the experience but we are all different anbd judging by the number of users here that list quite length extras with their cars I must be in the minority

Oh and if anyone wants my sound generator....I suspect it will be available a feww eeks after my car arrives!

Unless the dummy exhaust / sound generator was actually an option we should save venting about them for other threads as there are loads of threads about them.

Whilst It's another IMHO type thread, for me as an imminent owner (BW3) this is interesting to see what owners who now have Octy IIIs feel about their best and worst actual options now the dust has settled.

Prospectively, it's winterpack for me. Days of de-icing screens be-gone!

Spare wheel!!

Most - Cruise (which should be standard) or Heated Screen.

Least - KESSY

If you could option it ACC is the best add on

Lest Kessy

Most - Panoramic Sunroof

Least - Colour Maxidot

Personal opinion of course. :)

I love my electric tailgate :)

I'm most looking forward to the canton option on mine, least the simply clever pack (still a worthwhile addition though).

Does the vRS have remote boot opening on the hatch as standard? I've never had a car with it and always thought it'd be nice to have on wet school runs and shopping trips

The electric boot is only an option on the combi, but all models have a remote unlock feature, it just doesn't open or close it.

Shame, was hoping for a remote release that would allow the tailgate to lift on the gas struts.
