MK3 VRS modifications

Featured Replies

Hey Guys and Gals

Has anyone purchased any serious goodies or toys for the vrs yet?

Both petrol and diesel , estate and hatchback

Tuning boxes, suspension , air intakes, body kits, wheels E.T.C

Im personally looking at a tuning box and some Xtreme 19" wheels!

Anyone else done or looking at some mods?

Oh no you have mentioned the dreaded T B words! That's done it! :)

ABT POWER

Skoda Octavia_5E0 Combi 2,0l to app. 213/(290) kw/(bHP).

I fancy lowering mine a touch, user Robfab has done his estate and it looks terrific. Not sure if eibach do springs for the hatch yet.

The tuning box from DTUK looks mighty tempting too, 230bhp (ish) might be hard to resist

As said above, Iv had mine lowered to what i think it should come out of the factory, I put genuine VW led number plate lights in and I also have the Xtreme on and sold the 18" wheels on, meaning the Xtremes only cost me £600ish. Think thats it for me now, having a few VCDS tweeks at the weekend.

One of you needs to upgrade your tiny 340mm brakes.

Then sell them to me to upgrade my tinier 312mm brakes. All before u need to replace my pads.

Stick RedStuff pads in, 40% extra braking power or am I missing the point being , you need bigger discs to look bigger.

Dunno

redstuff are sheeeeite

Never really enjoyed running EBC discs/pads, tried them on my RWD Cossie then again on my later Bora Tdi.

Much preferred Brembo discs and pads.

Each to there own though.

+1 for the DTUK box

Wanted, not have. Dont even have the car yet!

I love and want the 19" wheels rather muchly!!!!!! They just look right on the estate !! Ive looked at after market wheels like rotiforms

But i come back to that originality look! How do they ride and feel ?

I was same with rotiforms but thought id have to change then due to fashion after a year or so. I think xtreme don't suit hatch but estate yes.

I don't think any different to my mk2 as didn't do many miles on 18's on this one. Road noise might be a bit more but not bad at all. Im happy with them, and with lowered i cant complain at anything

You could always buy a car that you like. Just a thought

petrol or diesel?

id love a set of 19's, but as our car tends to be driven hard  and the fact that the current 18inch tyres are covered under the maintenance agreement, i think ill be sticking to spacers and a set of springs. I won't mentioned the 230bhp or pedal box  :drunk:

Basing on my previous pd170, a stiffer rear arb and an anti lift kit. Stealth yet effective mods.

(actually looking for the suitable parts for the next 4x4).

petrol or diesel?

Diesel, my previous two vRS's have been diesel was tempted to swap to petrol, but due to lower residuals and already having the DTUK box on the current vRS I have stuck with diesel.

I like the unnoticeable effect of the car, when driven normally, but can move when required and the better fuel economy. All the reports from drivers of the MK3 say the delivery is better, so looking forward to that call the dealer saying my car has arrived. The DTUK box will then be returned to Andrew for the software updating before fitting to the newbie.

Im really looking forward to your feedback Paul, moreso as you will be in a unique position to have used the kit on both the mk2 and mk3 vRS's

I will gladly supply feedback, when the car arrives. Going to run the new one 'stock' for a short while first to provide a better comparison between car with and without the box. The Mk2 feels sluggish at present without the box connected :(

Oh well, I remember pretty well how slow, unrefined and heavvy my VRS TDI felt when was returned (of course without its map).

  • 1 year later...

I went with the stage 2 DTUK tuning box and Peddle box. Springs and spacers on there way. I'm running a diesel and the tunihng box is AWESOME!! thanks Andrew.

Ran 19's on my mk2FL. No issues with ride over 18s IMHO.

Am I going to mod this one.....no....unless you take a look at my ebay watch list and added to favourites websites then it's probably a yes.
