DVD in motion using Columbus Infotainment

Featured Replies

If caught or proved to cause an accident the penalties are likely to be more severe - as a minimum driving without due care and attention which can incur up to 9 points and if considered serious enough (causing a serious accident whilst being distracted by watching a DVD would probably be considered as such) a convicted driver can face disqualification.

Having seen this topic on another forum entirely the view from counsel consulted was that should the driver be involved in any serious incident or fatality, modifying the vehicle to an illegal state, the charge may well be dangerous riving that carries a potential 12 month sentence and an obligatory ban.

Not good.

Regardless of whether it is legal or not, with VCP you can unlock VIM. Here is a little tutorial for the Discover Pro but it's working for the Columbus too.

I have done it, but not tested it yet

Yes I do, ......it might be a child crosssing a pedesttrian crossing you hit whilst being distracted, or a cyclist or a wage earner of a young family, would you want that on your conscience for the rest of your life? So less sarcasm, more responsibility please.

Timoctav, Your sanctimonious attitude does little to encourage an intelligent discussion.

Also you clearly didn't read my response, while it might be illegal in the UK I stand by my statement that it may be for passengers enjoyment. There are drivers who have sufficient restraint and discipline to manage their driving behaviours without the need for nanny safety devices.....or lectures from you for thst matter.

I am just pleased that you might be distracted on roads in Australia - far enough away not to be a danger here.

I think you need to calm down Tim, before you give yourself a nose bleed.

Also not really bothered or distracted by watching Disney films (AGAIN) ... and very glad of a happy and quiet "crew"

Quite calm thanks....but I appreciate your concern.  But I don't suffer fools to well, it's an incurable flaw in my character I'm afraid.

Columbus to play in motion pictures, I recommend blocking when a person is paranoid! Best off all Columbus, everything distracting the driver, a train ride.

It must be hard living with yourself!!!

(I was going to leave you to your rant, but your reference to Australia deserved a reply. At least I didn't mention the cricket. :) )

Keep us connected. I will try to do it too.

Thanks fpr the link to VCP, being new to Skoda looks like I've got a bit of learning to do.

Haven't you tinted your windscreen by 50%?

That makes sense then. You can't see anything at night anyway so you might as well watch a movie when driving. ;)

You're right, it would be perfect to watch a movie too.

Joking aside, I agree with the 'nanny' state comment made earlier. We should all be responsible enough. Unfortunately not everyone is and the benefits of this mod are, in my view, easily outweighed by the distraction factor this would introduce.

Although, I am somewhat biased, working in an industry that has suffered too many accidents and loss of life due to distractions.
