Octavia VRS Special Edition

Featured Replies

Morning everyone. Just a quick one. Was looking at SKoda insurance quote for the new Octy out of interest this morning. The reg wasn't active yet, so I went to fill out the vehicle details manually.. But next to VRS TSI / TDI etc there was VRS "SPECIAL EDITION". Is this a generic placeholder, or do they have editions in mind already? Not particularly bothered though, I'm getting so excited about Saturday now!

Yes, there is VRS sport due out in March

They may take the VRS rallying again, they did it with the Mk1, there and again, it might just be a selection for modified verhicles, who knows.

Regards

Any news on whats different ?

A quick google found a military car sales site listing it for pre-order  less vat as its military, but working out around 21.5k with vat.

From what they listed it has as standard:

Black Pack

Full Leather

Sat Nav

Privacy Glass

And Only available in Candy White, Black Magic, Meteor Grey, Brilliant Silver, and Race Blue.

That will make me grumpy ... more spec and less money .... but how long would you have to wait for that one ?

I bet you can't add any extras thou

No they won't, there's no longer a class that the octavia will fit into, let alone be competitive.

are you sure this isn't the Mk2 VRS "SPECIAL EDITION" that the insurance company is talking about?

In Switzerland they were offering recently a vRS "Black Edition" which included the "black pack", leather, electric boot & the 19" xtreme alloy.

List price was 6000chf (4500gbp) extra though & it doesnt seem to be available anymore...

There was also a thread somewhere about a "challenge" edition. I think it was Czech only and was basically the black pack with black gloss wheels and different sill covers if I remember rightly.

Typical, You wait 4 months for one to come along and then they release a "special model" that would've been a dam sight cheaper than the bloody car I've just had to spec at my expense!!

To be honest if the start offering special editions just now they have a cheek considering the delays. Unless it's one that includes the options that folk aren't picking - although going by the "just ordered" threads that won't be a very long list of options!

I might drop it into the conversation tomorrow when they give me a sitrep and collection date....

A thing to remember about "Special Editions" is that they can cost extra to insure, because they're non-standard in the insurance companies eyes and therefore harder & more expensive to repair.

I used to have the problem with a motorbike that I had. It was underneath a standard GSX-R 750, but it was a limited edition in that it had special paint & bodywork (fairings) that were exclusive to just 250 machines as it celebrated the TT races centenary.

Trying to get insurance on it because it was a limited/special edition was an annual nightmare, so if SUK do, do a special edition, be prepared to pay a little extra on the insurance.

Makes no sense offering a bargain priced special edition when these cars sell so well and already have a 4 month wait. My guess is that any special will come at a premium, or will not come until demand has curtailed. Until there is an official announcement I remain sceptical.

This is the military discount price like a drive the deal or car wow price not a dealer rrp price.

The Forces Skoda suppliers advertised Mk2 Blackline several months before UK dealers advertised. Available from March 2014.

The military discount will be about 20% on top of the tax free bit. Add that back in and it's no cheaper then adding all the options to a standard car.
