just a quick message to say hi everyone.

I have just purchased a 2008 Octavia vrs estate (petrol) and I am enjoying it so far. I was recommended this site by a friend on themgzs site as an amazing place to come for help and advice.

I have just moved from a 2005 MG zs180, lovely car but after owning it for 7 years bits were falling off and I needed something bigger, faster and less conspicuous, in my current price range the skoda was the only car that fit the bill so was a no brainer. Its a low mileage vrs with a  full service history (every 6 months) so hopefully it should last for a while before I change.

 

My first car was a skoka super Estelle (with a fiat 2ltr twin cam engine) and was great so I am not new to the skoda brand although I have been away for a while.

 

first impressions of the Octavia are that its much more solid than the MG, faster and I get twice the MPG so its an all round winner .

 

no doubt you will have many questions from me in the future.

I am also from the North East, and are out and about the Newcastle area quite a bit, so might see you around. ( I'm in a white Octavia Mk3 VRS hatch in white )

 

What colour VRS are you in, so I can give you a wave.

 

Actually we should introduce a funny wave to all VRS drivers when we see each other...there again we would probably get the ' V ' sign more often than not.

When you mentioned the kids that made me laugh so much.

 

My 2 1/2 year old grand daughter looked at my new car and said "grandas new car, are we going for a drive in it"

 

She looked so sad, when i said "NO..you can only look at it, you are not allowed in it"

Yes its a no food rule in the car now with the silver inserts dont want to have them covered in sweets at least for the first six months anyway, old car was leather so slightly better but the state it would get in to was horrendous, wish i could say no kids. also the introduction of a ski hatch provides great amusement for them, belts off and dissapear through it in to the boot before i notice the monkeys.  Sorry i havent been on in a while some idiot ran a light going through newcastle so the vrs was off the road for a bit, still on the plus side they fitted my new black grill as part of the repairs.
