How has the colder weather affected your mpg?

Featured Replies

I was just wondering how much your mpg has dropped recently due to the colder weather?

What are you averages now compared to the same journey in the hotter weather?

Aimed at you derv boys!

perhaps a few mpg out ..my driving style/journeys vary so much that it's hard to tell. car feels more pokey this time of the year when I can get the power down.

Ive not noticed any changes, my driving style can make it range from anywhere between 62 and 42 when driving into town, so its a little hard to tell.

Yep noticed it this year and last year too.

I'll post up a graph so you can see the difference. It's an few mpg lower now.

I've definitely noticed a difference this year. A drop of a few mpg.

I'm struggling to reach 50 mpg since its been cold but before I would get 54ish. It is my first winter remapped too

Yep me 2 defiantly seen my mpg drop

Noticed around 20-30 miles less per fill here.

What do you get per tank ?

I used to get 600 but I'm getting about 550 at the min

Most recent fill up (yesterday) was the worst one so far, did around 300 miles and it cost £43 to fill up, had about 125 miles left on the in car display (not accurate)

Without calculating how much per litre, etc.. in the summer i used to get around an extra 100 miles out of it for around that same price

Around town my MPG is worse, as it was last winter. On longer runs, it's stayed pretty much the same as in summer 60-65MPG indicated on the motorway, and 50-55MPG indicated on a run over the snake to Manchester, occasionally reaching 60MPG if I get stuck behind someone. I find the indicated MPG on mine is around 5% optimistic, but is consistently so.

I've a grille block fitted to the top grille though, which seems to help even out the effect of winter tyres and weather. When I first fitted it in October my indicated MPGs increased, only to be brought back down when I put the winter boots on. For that reason, I'm half tempted to leave the grille block on all year round. I'm not sure if there'd be any adverse effects in the summer though.

What do you get per tank ?

Last week I refuelled after getting 380 miles. Normally get past the 400 mark. On average I get around 450 miles per tank if I let the tank zero out beyond red etc.

You lot must be driving Miss Daisy ffs

Fantastic mate!!

Really really impressed with them, vibrations have increased but like the powerflex dogbone mount it's like a nice vibration, bit rally car ish haha.

The handling has improved quite a bit with them and i've actually got a little bit of confidence when going around corners now.

Excellent stuff :)

Not noticed it this year, but that will be down to the fact that mine has been off the road most of this winter so far

Problem Solving Bushings

Ohhhhh I see

Honestly I never see much over 400 to a tank. maybe 430 if i'm lucky.

And my average usually says high 40's

Have i got a problem or do you lot just drive like diesel skoda owners??

I used to get 600 but I'm getting about 550 at the min

Proof or it doesn't happen. These cars do not do 68 mpg. literally the only way this could be possible was if you coasted down a 600 mile hill in neutral.
