New exhaust needed and other modifications / tuning

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have an 04 plate Skoda Octavia VRS 20V 1.8T Petrol.  My exhaust is on its way out and I need to purchase a new one at some point over the next 3 to 6 months and I don't just want the standard one.

At the same time I will probably get it remapped and a new air filter as I want to see how much talk I can get out of it.

I'd rather spend money on making it perform better than I would making it look the part, so have been told that it would be better to go for a turbo back exhaust than a cat back.  Have also been advised that it may be better for me to do the exhaust and filters first so I could potentially go straight to a Stage 2 remap.

Any suggestions are welcome, what you would recommend as well as what you would avoid!  I am not very knowledgable about cars and whats under the bonnet but would like to learn more and have to start somewhere!

Looking forward to hearing any feedback.  I know it is not going to be cheap to get it to where I want it, and this will be a project over the next few years where I will be saving up for an item, getting that fitted and then save up for the next one.

Thanks,

Mark

will need more than just an exhaust and induction kit for stage 2 mate if u gonna go that way will be enough for stage 1 which will see u around 200-210 bhp seriously worth doing though i am running 233bhp without a turbo intake pipe on stage 2 rtech plenty of info here on the forum though mate

OK, I will have a look around tonight.  Do a search for posts with similar tags and find out what I need to get it ready for stage 2.  I do definitely want to get stage 2 remap, so may as well get it completely ready for that and skip the stage 1.  Thanks.

for stage 2 i'd recommend

supersize Turbo intake pipe from r tech, badger 5, cn tuning

front mount intercooler

turbo back exhaust

Some say 4bar fuel reg

decent suspension and brakes

and a good map  (cn tuning r tech etc)

dont need a 4 bar fuel reg if u go rtech could be wrong but as far as i no only revo remaps use the 4 bar

I would change the standard intercooler for a tidy front mount before you even think of stage 2 map. Mine run just shy of a bar n half of boost and blew the lid off standard cooler!! Lol

And 4 bar fuel reg is ******... you will need a 4 bar pump to keep pressure up to the reg. But keep 3.5 bar fuel reg so the fuel pressure is right in the rail.. otherwise the car will over fuel and cause the ecu to hold back in areas when it feels it's overfueling... thus making having a 4 bar reg pointless

Clever ecu' s on these. So clever it's mad actually
