Stream MP3 - buttons unresponsive - repair or replace?

Featured Replies

Hi

My Stream MP3 only has half the buttons working - the 6 either side of the display work, but below the display the only buttons that work are the <<, >>, menu and music buttons.  Info works and the Eject CD works too.

The volume can be altered, but the unit cannot be switched off.

The audio source cannot be selected (I can insert a CD and it switches, then eject to get back to radio however)

I cannot switch FM bands or to AM.  I cannot scan for new stations.  I cannot manually tune in a station nor skip CD tracks.

This has become very annoying very quickly (only had the car less than a month).

The garage I bought it from are very reluctant to do anything about it as they say the CD works and the radio works (even though I cannot use the changer in the boot at all!).  They are not a Skoda dealer, just a private garage.  I am still pressuring them as the car came with a warranty.

My question relates to the possibility of repair... is this a known problem, something that can be fixed with either a software upgrade or even a soldering iron?  Happy to play with it if there is a good chance of a fix.  Alternatively is it best to just replace?  I am aware this unit has known problems...

Cheers

John

I would just replace it. Bolero is good, as mentioned above. If you just want to replace I'll be listing one for sale soon along with other gubbins.

There's a Stream MP3 or two in the for sale section ;) ;)
