Fault in module 17 instrument cluster can't be deleted

Featured Replies

In my SIII 2019 I have a fault saved in Module 17 Instrument Cluster number 10485833 [0xA00049] B200049 Ctrl. module faulty Steuergerat defect (SiLa) "Sicherhetswarnlampe", which does not want to be deleted. I found information that you can get rid of it by updating the module software to the latest version, i.e. 2700. I think there was TPI no. 2041445/2 for this. The part number of the instrument cluster is 3V0920740C, the software version number currently installed is 2501.

Does anyone have access to the update file for my instrument cluster and if so could you share it with the instruction how to update this.
I will be grateful for your help.

Should have add that car is running without any problems, there's no check engine and instrument cluster works fine. It's just code in memory which I'd like to delete and update cluster firmware. Has anyone already done that and could share some advices?

Updates like that can only be performed with ODIS or VCP.

I guess you should try to find someone with online ODIS access - if applicable, the update can then be downloaded and applied.

Guess I found a file with an update. It's FL_3V0920740C_2700__S.frf. Size 3,5 MB. My instrument cluster part number is 3V0920740C, current firmware version is 2501.

Could anyone confirm this is an update for my cluster? If so, can it be simply installed/updated with VCP or ODIS without doing aditional things like eeprom dump or so?

I don't think it's TPI 2041445/2 based on this page: https://vwts.ru/articles/tpi/tpi-2041445_2.html There will probably be another TPI specific to your cluster.

ODIS-e can normally perform updates offline. It may then require a dataset etc afterwards.

Assuming there is a TPI, I'd suggest you have a local Skoda dealer perform the update for you and not risk damaging the cluster... :)

Sorry guys, I'm not sure where I got info about TPI number from but this is my source about cluster firmware update, which deletes fault:

https://www.drive2.ru/c/552769026577662446/

That's why I'm looking for any hints how to fix it, maybe it's just a matter of connecting VCP or ODIS and simple file install. Was doing firmware update once few years ago to engine module in Octavia III 1.4 TSI CZDA.

You can find the full TPI by signing up for an hours access to erwin: https://erwin.skoda-auto.cz/erwin/showHome.do That will probably tell you any extra steps required along with any symptoms you may experience due to the fault.

A bad flash might mean your engine won't start. You may also need a dataset or immobiliser work afterwards. The latter will require genuine licenced ODIS install with online access.

The last paragraph from the drive2 page states if the error remains after updating, the cluster should be replaced. Based on that alone, I would very much suggest getting a dealer to do this for you. Given it's a known issue it should be free and they can be responsible for a replacement cluster if needed...

Believe me, I wouldn't ask for hints here if it was free at the dealer. Checked that earlier and price they told me forced me to look for help everywhere else.
