driving to czech republic for a 110% service. advice

Featured Replies

Hi all

i do have my second Octavia. Went from I to II after crashing in to a wall. I remember a post that said a II was so much better than the I. I agree, but still the 'same' type of car.

Now I have a few errors on my II and I am planning a trip to the Czech Republic for a good thorough service.

I am looking for a good mechanic there. I expect fast and professional service. Any of you have local knowlegde who can reccomend a pro service shop ?

Thanks a lot.

Just because the car was made in the Czech Republic doesn't mean that you'll get a better service there. The parts they use will be exactly the same as you would get fitted in Denmark.

Sorry, I ready cannot see the logic in driving hundreds of kilometres to get a service, and the same again to go home. Any VAG independent or main dealer will be able to give you the service you need.

Mike

+1. Good advice.

The only place I would go if I were going to go to the Czech Republic for a service would be the factory itself.

You Are silly. Both of you. I dare not to comment more. Obviously you are NOT familiar with local conditions, Czech or Danish! I did it myself. Which is the best. Anytime.

I an not sure IF I mentioned anything about e doing the service/ being the mechanic. It smell as a misunderstanding. Money is the subject/concern in this case as well. 90% at least, is that allowed here.

Sarcasm or not. 100% love 2 u ! Let's not I start a war. Main concerns: Czech republic equals good beer, prices etc. Ending up being here 3 days and still saving around5 50% all in all. Just ask any Dane. Peace.

Please read my post prior to this. Do a friendly actvity instead. Please. You have no local knowledge = only bringing unconstructive letters to this thread. Sleep tight.

I'm not driving my Saab to Sweden for a service, I know that.    Glad I don't own a Holden too.  ;)

Why not? The savings on parts, labour and curries should more than cover the cost of the trip. JMTPW.

It wasn't sarcasm, just an attempt at humour since you're obviously trolling.

Is the issue Danish garage labour rates or something? That's the only logic I can see.

And even then, there must be more cost effective places between Denmark and Czech Republic!

Well I'm here. Mini holiday as well. A bottle of becherovka and a few beers as

well. Not a bad idea. Hope that i Will be happy with the job done.

its a car not a Saturn 5 rocket.

they fling out a filter

put a new one in

loosen a sump plug, wait for empty

put new oil in

change a few plugs

look around the car, maybe even drive it, if you have any clue you would notice faults driving it anyway

job done

that will be a few hundred please sir

serious its not open heart surgery its a big metal thing with doors, the only reason I don't service my own car myself is because I cant be arsed. I have 3 bikes each of which I service myself mind you but that's because its no hassle at all, you'd be amazed how little work actually happens at a service.

if your main idea was to go a short holiday and get it serviced there to save a few quid good, fair enough.

I just noticed its a 2006 diesel.....dear god......

I cant really be arsed taking my car 45 miles to star performance and its a remapped vrs.

sod a drive 450 miles across Europe for a ****ing diesel taxi, just for a service.

again if your mainly going for a holiday though, fair enough.

prague is lovely

One main issue is if you have issues or they do something wrong. Are you going to drive all the way back again?

At kleast with someone local you can easily go back.

I have two kawasakis it would be a right **** to ride them to japan and back again to get serviced. id need to service it twice before I got there.

that's why my 3rd bike was a triumph, makes sense doesn't it

because servicing the car where its born matters......

seriously I cant get my head around this I was born in Falkirk hospital

when came off my bike I didn't demand they fling the blues and twos on and take me there and only there

saying that Czech rep is a skoda fest every second car is an Octavia its quite impressive

Well, here is my update. Thanks for all your kind words. I really appreciate the understanding. The thing is that my car understood the thread slightly different. Early this morning it exploded in a purple fire. It's now the second hour with flames. Also hundreds of little elfs and smurfs are running out of the flames. I have recorded everything and will post the video When the fire stops. Now I have all these little smurfs and elfs running around. I might sell them in order to finance my next ride. Already have my eyes on a chinese QQ car. What an adventure it will be! Thank you!

Are you OK loop?....

All I asked for was a simple recommendation. We are now on page 2 without anything else but attacks and stupidity. Thus I thank thee.
