warranty work?

Featured Replies

Surreal conversation with receptionist at Saltdean Skoda. I finally phoned about my 2.0FSI driver's window rattle. He told me that as I had 3 years AA Homestart, to call the AA and see if they could fix it. Call the AA!? For a window rattle? One of us is potty!

lol - and I don't think it's you :D

Perhaps he was intimating that you may get a better service from the AA, in which case I should think you'll be looking for another dealer.

If my experiences with saltdean skoda over the last 2 years are anything to go by i'd almost cerainly look for another dealer if I were you.

I really dont expect the staff on the counter (who only have jobs because people like me buy cars from them and then pay them to service them) to start an argument with me over wether they forgot to write one of the items on my list of faults down on their sheet or not

At the end of the day his response should have been something along the lines of - 'Ok sir sorry about that, its not a problem i'll get that checked out for you too'.

Instead I get (in a rude and abrupt manner) 'You never told me about that' :finger: I know damn well I did and it shouldn't have even been an issue as thay hadn't started working on the car!

Still, 2 years after purchasing the car (brand new) they have nearly fixed all the original faults  and most of the new ones too ;)

No, I don't think it's me either. But it's nice to have that confirmed!

I didn't buy the FSI there, although I did get my previous vRS there - couldn't check their repair service as nothing ever went wrong! I was a bit suspicious of the paperwork for the vRS's first annual service though - sounded like a very expensive oil change.

I got the FSI from a "specialist dealer" [ex main dealer] in Worthing but they can't offer warranty work. So it is either Saltdean or Ballamy [shoreham]. But since I refused Ballamy's trade in-deal, I'm a little bothered about taking the car there for warranty work!! I assume any main dealer has to look into it???

You can take your car to any official Skoda garage and they are obliged to undertake any warranty work/repairs necessary.

You dont have to take it back to the garage you purchased it from, also you dont even have to have it serviced by Skoda to maintain your warranty, so long as you have it serviced by a qualified mechanic at a VAT registered garage using O.E. parts you are fine.

I don't have anything nice to say about Saltdean. They weren't even "interested" in me before I bought my Octavia, which is good in a way as my custom went elsewhere :D

I wonder if the window rattle is a known fault?

As soon as they'd got my money Saltdean stopped being interested in me

Sadly due to my experience with them i shall never purchase another Skoda :(

Anyone got any idea what I should go for next? thinking I wont go new again due to depreciation so maybe up to 2 years old.

This is whats on my shortlist for september so far

Audi A4/A6 2.5tdi (is it gonna be any more reliable than my superb being VAG group?)

Jag S-Type 2.7D

Volvo S60 D5

Honda Accord 2.2d

Mondeo ST-TDCi (bit different to the others but I just like em)

Got to be a saloon or estate large enough to seat 4 adult passengers!

Audi is looking favourite so far although the Jag is biteing at my heels (and yes I know the front grille is horrible)

I wouldn't be put off a good product by a bad dealer. New Octy seems really good to me. If you're in Sussex area' date=' I used Clarion Worthing. Specialist dealer. Very good deal, but car apparently supplied to them by Shoreham Ballamy's anyway, who are obliged to do warranty work. [same 3 yr 60000 mile warranty, and all other perks, as any main dealer.']
