newbie; dumb VCDS question...

Featured Replies

Hi. I'd like to try some of the VCDS adaptations on my estate.

Am I right in presuming that this can only be done via a lead and the diagnostics port on a laptop

or can it be done via the onboard screen.

Sorry for the bone question so early on in our relationship..

..I'll get me coat !

VCDS is a piece of software you run on a laptop, and you plugin a specific cable into the diagnostics port on the car. For the Octavia MK3 you need CAN lead, so either Micro CAN or the full HEX+CAN lead. The latter is £249 and available from the likes of Gendan.

VCDS has the power to totally mess up a car, so it has to be used very carefully.
