Mystery black (tar?) spots appearing again.

Featured Replies

I've just washed my car for the first time in a while and there were loads of tar spots.

WD40 and a bit of elbow grease, or a tar remover like the one above will do the trick.

It'll be tar spots. I'm a valeter and spend my life removing the stuff even in winter. I cleaned our moon white Yeti last week, only 2 weeks old and the lower half and tailgate were covered in it. Also cars are prone to getting contaminated with industrial fall out. again this is most noticeable on light colours and show up as rusty coloured specks caused by tiny shards of metal embedded in the paint.  If you park at a train station or live close to a train track your car will soon be covered as every time a train goes past it kicks up loads of metal filings which land on cars. Fall out also comes of your disc breaks and can appear on the lower half of the doors etc Fall out remover works well for this Just spray on and let it do it's stuff, then rinse off. can be pricey though.

My white yeti (and previous white golf) get covered in the stuff. I've come to the conclusion it is the cheap roadfill the council dump into potholes as it occurs in all weathers and temperatures. It comes off, as discussed, but is a real pain - I occasionally find it stuck to the alloys also.

Have tried everything to stop it sticking but no success - the car was pretreated (Autoglym) before delivery but the spots still stick.

Really Grumpy

AG Lifeshine won't prevent tar from sticking to the bodywork. Not sure what will

Like your thinking!  Best not tell my customers that. I'll be out of a job.

Agree with gr666 I also use auto smart tarsus tar remover. I blame the council up here putting cold tar in the any potholes. After a day or two it washes out an harls the side and back of your car!

Tardis!!

Worth a try - at least you get to play in the dirt first

No black spot problem ( Black Yeti ),

Did some one say Tardis ,

I had a Roomster ,that had more room inside than expected ,changed to Yeti looks bigger outside

but load carrying area looks smaller .

Is this an optical illusion or is the smile on my face from driving a Yeti distorting my vision.

Must go on put some more smiles  (miles ) on my new Yeti.

I know boot size is larger in the Roomster but couldn't say about the rest of the cabin.
