Octavia VRS 180 or 225?...

Featured Replies

...that's the question for me.

First post on the site and i have a quandry. I'm in the throws of taking the advanced driving test, to prove to my wife that I won't die in a car accident. In the last lesson, the asessor told me that my Octavia 180bhp was "sympathetic", suggesting that his aging Volvo was in a different league in terms of power.

I am now wondering if I should have my car "amended" to give it more poke. All I want to do is leave everything alse standing at the lights so that I can keep other cars away from my lovely polished paintwork.

I know that Jabba's tinkering can take the VRS to 225bhp, but does it make a significant difference from 2000-5000 revs?

Does anyone know a 0-60 for the tinkered cars?

This is a great site and fascinating to boot!

Bonhead.

I have a Jabba remap and I have to say it doesnt make uch difference in that rev range.

If I were to have another Octavia remapped I'd probably go with the Custom Code remap rather than Jabba. They apparently deliver the power more smoothly, the Jabba map can be a little irratic on part throttle acceleration.

Exactly. So bonhead, take your Octavia to the nearest dealer and buy a Fabia.

:P

Even with 225 hp you would never keep with an ageing Volvo - ;)

Or a Ferrari 360, I know because I tried at the weekend

god effort goochie!!

i tried it on with a lambo and a ferrari before, not bad that i came in third ;)

Off topic but worth mentioning, I tried it on with an A reg pile of scrap Fiesta. He kicked my a$$, not only that, he was wheelspinning so much, even when he changed into 4th. If he could get traction, god only knows what his o-100 would be

A41 traffic lights at the M40, 2 lanes to go onto the A41 dual carriageway and one for the M40. Big queues in the A41 lanes so I crept up the M40 lane planning to beat those at the front off the line when the lights went green.

I was slightly gutted when I got to the front to find a minibus filled with cubs and brownies hiding a yellow 360 in the other lane.

Needless to say the cubs enjoyed the following race from the lights, the Ferrari guy WAS trying as the unmistakable wail of a Ferrari lump could easily be heard. I wont pretend I was even close to matching his acceleration but it was great fun listening to it with the windows slightly down.

He gave me a  at the end of the road.

ferrari's sound awesome :D

Might go for a spin in the Fabia at the weekend. I have the Golf Tdi 130 as a second car - i hope the Fabia's a bit quicker than that!

Probably about the same mate. Good fun nontheless though, especially with a remap. :D

Thanks Shifty, "about the same" means that I keep the Octavia and save a few grand towards a new one next year.

I'm still going for a spin in the Fabia though... or is that just tempting fete?
