For you A9 regulars

Featured Replies

Actually, I'm inclined to see the hand of the SNP's main drawback, Kenny MacKilljoy.

  • 3 weeks later...

Sadly another Motor Cyclist died today on the A9,  at the House of Bruar junction.

All my sympathies to his family and friends.

  • 5 months later...

Looks like I'll be going the Aberdeen way from now on when I visit the family in Dunfermline. Have a lot of hgv drivers said they will stick to 40 until the cameras are removed or switched off.

Hell will freeze over first.

Or just Winter 2014 /15 on the A9 and the various Jack Knifed Lorries etc,

Gates closed and waiting hours or days.

They will put their foot down and get a shift on like everyone else does.

Cameras Frozen will be interesting.

Covered in Snow Drift and then frozen fast after blizzard like conditions.

The Road Works and Temp Traffic lights are unreal, and the snail line of vehicles.

and then the 'Elephant Racing' on the Crawler Lanes or outside lanes.

They need to get Trains running with those HGV's and Containers on between Stirling or Perth & Inverness.

That is when the line is open.

PS

I wish they would get Speed Signposting up, because so many seen to not know what

the NSL i(Maximum) is for their vehicles.

& for when you can see the Black Top, paint the Maximum Speeds for cars and that class of vehicles on the Road Surface.

I'm glad the new cameras weren't on 30 years ago... I regularly did Perth - Aviemore in under an hour on Sunday evenings :notme:

I have had ticket off the southbound one just past Dunkeld though, and the missus did at Ballinluig.

Speeding up the HGVs is a brilliant idea though

Don't see what good the cameras will do, travel the A9 any time between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. and its pretty much impossible to average 60 mph anyway.  raising the speed limit for HGV's is a great move however - its slow lorries that cause the bottle necks and frustrate drivers into making silly overtakes. Not that i'm blaming the HGV's - they have laws to follow, deadline to mean and spy in the can Tacho's. Differential speed limits are just plain daft.
