Skoda Superb police cars.

Featured Replies

Just got back from the police garage after detailing a car there. Was hoping to see the black un-marked Skoda Superb Combi (or two as I've later found) but unfortunately they weren't there (a nice Skoda Octavia VRS was though).

Apparently the black ones are often down country on more, shall we say more, specialised use.

But found there is also a lovely silver Superb Combi. I say found as it just turned up. She looked fantastic.

Looking forward to going back and getting some more cars done.

All unmarked or any in full police livery?

Ye', all unmarked.

The marked ones are all Transits, Focus estates, Peugeot Experts, Land Rover Freelanders, etc...

The silver Superb is sneakier in that it doesn't have the intersection repeaters, just an led on the centre of each wing mirror.

It was extra special in that it pulled up outside the garage next to our silver Superb.

I'm going to guess they're the V6 ones. They're quite common amongst police forces in europe.

I've heard the two black ones are V6s but the silver one is a TDi. Hopefully I'll be popping back to the garage soon for another car and I might be able to get a look around the silver one.

Drove from Brecon to Cardiff a little while ago ( about 30 miles) and passed four Superbs all marked, three combis and one hatch. I travelled across two police force areas. I think two cars were Dyfed Powys, one South Wales and one British Transport Police.

Surely they are "natural" police cars and in Combi/4wd spec more versatile than soft roaders and cheaper to run than Freelanders etc.

Freelanders etc will be required in rural areas for ground clearance, I would have thought?

There were two marked Superb hatches travelling in convoy into Brecon from the Abergavenny direction the other morning at about 8:00am.  I can sometimes travel miles and not see another Superb, so it was unusual for three to be together in Brecon!

I think there is a lot of change in the air for our force over the coming year. Was told most of the Transits are getting replaced with Peugeot Experts and dare say we'll get some more Skodas. Fingers crossed.

Locally they started buying Hyundais as panda cars but have done a smart about turn to Fords as despite the warranty the Hyundais weren't working out according to our police sergeant son.

Humberside have LPG Protons......... :wall:
