DPF Light on

Featured Replies

And if it is you have 2 options. Replacement at over £1000 or removal at around half that

There is a third option: DPF clean.

And whatever you do do not have it removed. Sooner or later you will have ot pay for a new one as the MOT laws are tightening on that.

Do it once, until they change the mot to include a test for the dpf performance and then buy a new one or scrap the car Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk

Right , after today's driving % was at 133% !! Reset as per above , went to 20% , drove 2 miles and had risen to 54%. There are no other lights and the car drives as expected. Any ideas ? There are no fault codes, regen shows 3 failed , 4500s since last regen. Constant DPF light.

Regen only removes the soot but if there is too much ash the problem doesn't go away. You need the ash out!

It has already been professionally cleaned , reducing the levels to that of a new filter.

It is widely reported that washing DPF's does not last long. The same issue quickly returns and it's about £250 a time.

All this scaremongering about DPF removal. If you have to replace the DPF then why do it now? Get it professionally removed and mapped out (£400) and then worry about having a new one refitted as and when required. Chances are you'll never have to.

You've probably already spent the £400 it costs to get it taken out with the reduced fuel consumption trying to get the bloody thing to regen every 100 miles.

It's goosed, rip it out.

Box it up and send it to Skoda UK headquarters asking for the cost of it to be refunded.

No Surrender   !!

Removed the 2 hoses and blew them through (got a bit of plastic out of the one that was previously broken). Carried out a re-gen drive and now sitting at 1%, on a drive afterwards monitoring the situation it was stable, think a piece of the sheared pipe was blocking the hose. So if you don't hear from me again consider it sorted

Good luck VRSmule, i was going to suggest blowing the pipes out or something. I would be interested in hearing more about the DPF clean.

They has some special chemical based cleaner which is put straight into the DPF (ne need for removal).  A re-gen is then carried out and all the black stuff comes out the back. Mine took 2 doses and filles the workshop with black smoke and set off the smoke detectors !!

Off, off, off!

So , after removing the "obstruction" got to the hallowed 120 mile mark (after a weeks town driving) and we were at 1000rpm idle, but ! On the open road. Couple of miles later back to 750 rpm idle. Been sweet since. I think the car may have been working as advertised and the fact my daily commute coinciding with the regen (wrong parameters) has aused the problems all along ! Anyhoo , she's sweet again just now - Case closed (for now).

That's case opened, closed, opened, closed, opened and now closed again.

I'll say it again, off, off, off!

And for those that didn't get me the first time, I mean take the bloody DPF off :D

If you can be bothered stick it in a box and send it back to Skoda with a note telling them they may as well have the useless thing back.

Iv got the vrs 170 cr recon its worth me getting the DPF deleted out of it before i have any trouble or is this the revised version on my FL model ?

You'll be fine.

The PD170 engine was never designed to work with a DPF - hence a lot of the issues on older vRS's.

Your later CR170 engine was designed with the DPF in mind, as a result the DPF is closer to the engine so that it gets and stays hotter and is fitted with a catalyst which again makes the passive regeneration process far more effective.

Sleep easy!
