Black vRS alloys on a Monte

Featured Replies

Hi George, thanks for your reply.

It's funny, I can't see how you mean about the "better" wheels matching the rest of the black trim on the Monte compared to the Trinity wheels because according to ETKA they're both painted the same colour? Unless that's not what you mean.

I've ordered a set of Trinity wheels in to where I work for tomorrow and I've got my boss speaking to someone above the sales department tomorrow so fingers crossed I can get something sorted soon!

Thanks again

  • The dealer is talking absolute tosh. They have blatantly pinched the wheels off your car to go on another Monte. I wouldn't be accepting that at all. The black gigaros are nice but just be aware they

  • Having listened to everything on here, ultimately there is only one resolution

  • Don't think my eyes are deceiving me but they don't look like trinitys on this monte, maybe all montes from now on are going to have the VRS wheels instead (also notice colour coded grille top)

I was also going to say if one thing, that upgrade is for the best as Black Trinities, and all the all-black wheels in general look like cheap aftermarket options, the Gigaro's silver ring really sets them apart imho.

On the other hand I totally get the "just doesn't look stock" point, I share much of that same feeling about cars and exterior upgrades. I've seen various "Here are my new wheels" threads, be it on standard Fabias, Montes and vRS and I have never ever liked the change. It just screams "AFTERMARKET" in my eyes, like pretending to be something it clearly isn't.

That been said, we're talking about two different stock wheels of the very same brand and model, maybe the change is not that big, I mean you're not fitting Audi TT wheels after all (still trying to forget that horrible vRS look with those wheels on...)

This is the main reason why I wouldn't be happy with the Gigaros. It would just bug me that they're not the ones for the car I've got. Silly I know and I know lots of people put different wheels on different cars, but we're all different I suppose and that's how I feel. Thanks for getting what I mean regarding that!

You're right, they're not too different I suppose. It's not like they're off something from a completely different part of the VW group

Thanks a lot anyway

Simply,

The Trinity on the Monte Carlo and Black Gigaro as fitted on the vRS are not painted the same colour.

The difference in looks is not just the Machined Silver edging of the bead.

(EDIT, or i should say they were not the same colour, but someone maybe knows if the Trinity are changed now.)

Ah right ok. It seems that ETKA is wrong then!

Am i reading this wrong or are you trying to sort this mess out yourself instead of getting the roots at skoda to sort it.?

Hi O.C.D, not quite.

I work within the same group that owns the Skoda dealer in question. So they are our sister company if u like. My boss knows someone important (I assume) at Skoda and as I haven't had much joy with the sales department, he has offered to try and pull some strings. I haven't paid or booked these wheels, he just told me to order them in ready for when (hopefully) it will get sorted. I will simply transfer them from our stock to Skoda's stock as soon as i get the nod and that's that! I can see how u thought what u thought!

What a palava,

you just get the Monte Carlo you wanted and ordered or not.

The Dealership Manager is really the only one you need to talk to, not Salespeople. parts people or your boss.

Well II'll see what happens tomorrow. At least i have those Trinitys ready anyway.

Besides all this, I really really can't wait to get the car now! :)

Thanks

It's known as modification.........or 'modding' for short, normally done for the owner's benefit, not to please or impress everyone else  ;)

Yeh i suppose...good luck with your new monte and hope you enjoy it regardless of what rims you end up with.

Should I mention that I already have a set of cree led DRL bulbs on order... Maybe a bit keen perhaps!

Thanks mate and thanks for all your help too!

Glad it is getting sorted out one way or another.

I suppose the point of it all is that they touched your car....& no bloke wants anyone else touching their car...especially not a new one.

Reading through all the posts i can see that it may be a bit awkward for you as you may well know some of the people involved, they probably read these posts i bet.....perfectly acceptable and always easy for us to say you should kick off , prob somebody kicking off has ended up with your wheels...he who shouts the loudest etc etc..but if you've managed to use company time to sort it out then there's nothing lost & your company has kind of sorted it out...via you.

Hopefully the managers have had a chat amongst themselves & singled out who was responsible & they keep an eye on them.

I spoke to the salesman and the impression I got was that it's those wheels on it and that's it really. I took the chassis number off him to check the spec on ETKA and it lists the Trinitys as being fitted as standard from factory. So now I'm not sure now whether they genuinely fitted the Gigaros from factory or they've just been swapped afterwards like.

Any other opinions from anyone?

Thanks

What is ETKA?

What is ETKA?

ETKA is the parts look-up program VW use. We use it to look up parts for VW, SEAT, Skoda, Audi and VW Commercial. It's what all the dealers use and the TPS centres of course

Glad it is getting sorted out one way or another.

We shall see tomorrow Noggy. Hopefully it'll get sorted one way or another. Yes it is a bit awkward with us all being the same group but then again it should be more straight forward for that reason too?

He who shouts loudest is certainly true. Perhaps I should get some practice in!

Thanks for your help anyway

Shouting or the need to shout hardly came into it,

is it you buying it or a company car?

Right from the Off you only had to ask the Salesperson to write down what he was telling you & sign it.

Then call Skoda UK Customers services for the truth or not of it.

If you do not like what they are going to supply, you do not accept it and you ask them to correctly supply what you ordered.

^^^ This.

You wouldn't accept it if you spent £20 on a takeaway Indian and when you went to collect they said "sorry sir we know you ordered a chicken madras but we have given you a vegetable korma instead - it doesn't matter though as it's still curry". So don't feel guilty for demanding you get what you paid for when spending £££££ on a new car!

You're both right and thanks!

It's my own car, through work or thereabouts

Sure whatever you say. Mods crusader passing by people, attention...

Good shout AdamJMK.

I've just been talking about colour coding the top of my grille as well, the alloys look good as well so if they're all going to be like that then cool.

Adamjmk - where did that pic come from? They do look like gigaros though it's hard to tell from the angle. Also just noticed the red colour coded grille...?

Skodas official facebook page so genuine, geneva motorshow, they definitely aren't trinity alloys as the shape is wrong, they look like gigaros

This one is not on Black Gigaros, 2014 Monte @ 2013 Frankfurt Show.
