Black vRS alloys on a Monte

Featured Replies

Thanks Brimma! The Gigaros look that bit chunkier don't they. Perhaps they'll suit the Monte better with it having the wheel arch trims. Nice finish too actually.

I wonder if it will have an effect on the value of the car in the near future though? I appreciate we're not talking about something like a mk1 Focus RS on different wheels BTW as an example.

Thanks

  • The dealer is talking absolute tosh. They have blatantly pinched the wheels off your car to go on another Monte. I wouldn't be accepting that at all. The black gigaros are nice but just be aware they

  • Having listened to everything on here, ultimately there is only one resolution

  • Don't think my eyes are deceiving me but they don't look like trinitys on this monte, maybe all montes from now on are going to have the VRS wheels instead (also notice colour coded grille top)

I'm starting to agree with you Noggy. Perhaps I should take them.

They're like that aren't they

Thanks

Ye plus im in wales so i can always pinch them he he

The Gigaros do look nice and will look good on the Monte but it still doesn't take the fact away that you're Stealer is probably talking poo!!

Do whatever you feel is right for yourself, it's your money and your car, just remember they're not stock items.

AS gaz says the dealers are "stroking ya" as we say over here, if it was me happy or not i would deffo be looking for some sort of compo like a couple of free services or free mats and flaps. FFS do these dealers think were all d1ck heads and we will just take whatever they force on us. Tell them your fecked off and really not happy with this BS and see what they say just don't ly down and let them walk over you .eeeEERRR i'm away to ly down in a dark room for a few minutes. Good luck to ya !!!

Ha ha, that's always an option!

You're right Gaz, they probably are.

I've sent a query on ETKA regarding the spec of the car and the wheels shown, so i'll see what they say. Obviously the chassis will tell you every standard item from when it left the factory. They may well say that the dealer is right and that the spec wouldn't change or they may say that the dealer is telling porkies and the wheels have been swapped over here in the UK

Who knows!

Good point

Look at parts and see which is the dearer wheel, if it's the Gigaro, then yes, free upgrade

The only thing I would check is the finish...........I can't recall if the Monte is a metallic black, similar to the Black Magic finish of the Monte trim

Compare that with the finish of the black Gigaros, ie whether the Gigaro is a flat gloss black

They're both the same price Brimma. Just checked in work now

It does get you wound up doesn't it. Nothing ever seems straight forward with things like this either. I've been waiting since bloody January because I added a couple of extras too.

Thanks O.C.D

Get the gigaros and you can have my brand new Monte alloys if you like :) had winters on from new so they're unused apart from the trip back from the dealers when I picked it up. Pm me if you're interested as I could bung some cash your way...

Sounds like a plan, noseforkball.

Be careful though, you know what those shandy drinkin southerners are like, lol.

Ha ha, I've heard that too Gaz!

What tyres have you got on them luis?

Cheers

I'll keep the shandy to myself :) They're Pirelli p zero neros (I think they're neros - not 100% certain about that but I'll check later on - they're all wrapped up for winter). Pm me if you fancy a swap and some dough.

Hey Niseforkhall

I would have swapped too but my wheels already done 3.5K so louisv6 sounds like the way forward plus i would imagine his tyres will be slightly better performers than the Monte ones as the VRS is a true hot hatch & goes faster etc etc, higher speed rating, better compound maybe.

Thanks for your replies louis and Noggy

I've been having a bit of a think and I'm going to get the dealer to put something in writing that the wheels have been changed from factory and go for the Gigaros. That way, at least I'll have that as a bit of back-up should I need it in the future. I'll certainly mention that i'm not 100% happy with what has happened (which I'm not) and ask them for something else in the deal to soften the blow a bit.

A set of Eibachs would be nice...  :smirk:

Go for the Eibachs, kick off when you go and try and get them as compo.

Worth a shout isn't it! Thanks Gaz

Don't go in expecting too much

Your car still has wheels, not only that they are wheels fitted to the top-of-the-range model (no disrespect but the Monte is only a tarted up cooking version, not even a limited edition.......and I've had one, before anyone says anything)

If you're that bothered either reject the car, or ask them to order a set with tyres while you run the Gigaros, then exchange them when they come in

It makes sense what you are saying and I appreciate your comments. It was a bit tongue-in-cheek my comment about the Eibachs tbh. The best they would do is fit them at a cheaper rate anyway, knowing what main dealers are like.  A tank of diesel would be a bit more realistic.

Thanks Brimma

The dealer is talking absolute tosh. They have blatantly pinched the wheels off your car to go on another Monte. I wouldn't be accepting that at all. The black gigaros are nice but just be aware they also have a shiny chrome rim which doesn't look great on a black wheel imho.

Also if you do accept the gigaros might be worth checking with your insurance as I'm sure they will want to charge you more as you will have 'non standard wheels'.

Have to agree with Furbytom on this one and because they're non standard alloys then you'll have to inform your insurance company.

If they're the same size then it shouldn't cost any more.

Thanks for both of your replies. The more I read what people think, the more I start thinking that they may well be trying to pull a fast one by fobbing me off with different wheels. I thought I'd made my mind up earlier too! The insurance thing is a valid point. I hadn't thought of that, so cheers.I would have played dumb if anything like that happened and I had different wheels on the car mind.

Thanks again

I will certainly concede that I cannot see how the factory would even contemplate sending out a Monte with non-Monte wheels.........makes you wonder if they might be sending out vRSs with non-vRS engines

I work in car and home insurance and you could probably get away with doing that anyway but if they ever had to be replaced then the insurance would probably order the Trinity alloys as stock.

Just see what the dealer is saying and ask how many cars were affected, if it's only yours then you know there's a rabbit up.

Still think they're taking the P**S though but I hope I'm wrong, good luck.

I never realised that insurance companies ordered parts
