Black vRS alloys on a Monte

Featured Replies

I can't see it happening either Brimma. I work for a TPS centre so I'm able to check the stock at Dordon and as I said on the previous page, they had plenty of stock of the Trinity wheels. If there's stock there, I find it difficult to understand how they would run out where the cars are produced.

Your right Gaz. I speak to quite a few bodyshops and when they order parts on behalf of the insurance company, we supply exactly what ETKA says the car left the factory with. The chassis number of my Fabia says it left with Trinity alloys. So yeah, if anything happened to it, the wrong wheels would be supplied for it!

Cheers both

  • The dealer is talking absolute tosh. They have blatantly pinched the wheels off your car to go on another Monte. I wouldn't be accepting that at all. The black gigaros are nice but just be aware they

  • Having listened to everything on here, ultimately there is only one resolution

  • Don't think my eyes are deceiving me but they don't look like trinitys on this monte, maybe all montes from now on are going to have the VRS wheels instead (also notice colour coded grille top)

I never realised that insurance companies ordered parts

The insurance pay but it would be the repair company who would ultimately order and fit them.

The insurance company would insist on original parts being fitted as they have to guarantee the parts and repairs.

Spot on

The insurance pay but it would be the repair company who would ultimately order and fit them.

But in this particular case the original parts FITTED, so long as it is clearly recorded somewhere, either on the invoice or otherwise, would be Gigaros, so a replacement Gigaro could properly be ordered by the repairer

So what you are saying is that in the future if say for talk sake you lost control on some ice and damaged your two n/s gigaros insurance would replace them with Trinity wheels. This situation that they have put you in is just not on... full stop.!

EDIT. brimma you got your post in before mine but you kinda answer my question.

In this particular case, Trinity alloys were fitted at the factory according to ETKA so that's what the insurance/repair company would order and supply.

Somewhere down the line Gigaros have been fitted as replacements, the reason, apparently is " the factory ran out of Trinitys so have fitted Gigaros instead"!!!

C'mon Brimma, surely you've got to smell the bulls**t here, factories don't send out cars with different parts coz they 'ran out'.

Yeah exactly that O.C.D. I've come across it in work a loads of times where the bodyshop have called us to say we've sent the wrong wheels and all we can tell them is that the ones supplied are the ones listed for the car. 9 times out of 10 mind, we ask them to see if there are any part numbers on the wheels fitted to the car and match them up that way. It's a pain mind. If no part numbers, then the wheels are not genuine and therefore fitted by the owner as after market items

I think you may be right Gaz

If you'd read my posts properly I've accepted that it's very unlikely to have happened

I'm also saying that the wheels actually FITTED and SUPPLIED to the buyer are, as it stands, Gigaros

I'm also saying that if that is clearly documented somewhere, assuming the buyer accepts it with Gigaros, I can't imagine any insurance company, faced with such documentation, insisting on Trinitys being supplied as replacements

Yo man it's Sunday nite and you need to get your ducks in a row so you can fone these ballbags first thing tomorrow and tell them this crap is just not on.....it's what i would do anyway. good luck, keep us all informed.

If I go for these wheels, this is exactly why I would want it in writing from them.

Cheers Brimma

Ha ha, thanks mate.

I sure will, as soon as I know anything

I agree with you Brimma but I think we're moving away from the original point here, the car has not got the correct wheels fitted and regardless if Gigaros are better, they're not right.

Imagine the salesman saying they've had to fit a Swing HU as they've ran out of Amundsen but that's OK as they've sent a top of the range Tom Tom instead and it's got free lifetime map updates.

Which is a totally different ball game altogether

Another way of looking at it is you wouldn't buy a Golf GTI only to find out that they ran out of the GTI wheels and put a set of Golf R alloys on instead for you.

I hope the R alloys are not an option now because that's gonna make this a **** example lol

Just a little but it's still not right so it's up to noseforkhall to decide what he wants to do.

Just let us know how you get on when you speak to them and I hope you get it sorted one way or another mate.

Thanks a lot Gaz, I'll certainly post the outcome either way.

Thanks for everyone's help too by the way, I appreciate it!

For my part I'd have been quite happy for my Monte to have been delivered with VRS wheels. It like a free upgrade ie components from a higher model.

Each to there own I suppose.

I think it's the fact that I wan't asked about the wheels or even given the option to upgrade is the issue. They have simply been swapped, more than likely after it left the factory.

Yes, maybe if I'd had the option to upgrade for free, I dare say most would consider the upgrade. The reason I have waited since January for it is because I have added optional extras to have the car how I want it. Otherwise I would have had just another Fabia from somewhere else to a spec that I had no choice of. The fact I've been patient and prepared to wait should allow me to have the wheels/car I want surely??

Thanks

Exactly,a bonus not a problem, the silver edge to the vRS wheels makes them look a lot better...and any suggestion that the car is devalued by having non-standard wheels is laughable,it's hardly a vintage Bentley.

Factory line generally work on very short delivery times. Hence a truck getting held up or missed delivery can have consequences. The wheels will go on a bit in the line so it is quite possible that the wheels did not turn up after the build had stated and so another set got put on to keep the line going.

I know the sales man at Vw said when he was being down around the Passat line the standard sat nav units had not been delivered so they put the better system in instead. Can't see why he would have any reason to lie.

No one mentioned about the car being devalued and you're right, it isn't a vintage Bentley. I certainly wouldn't be able to afford one of those anyway hence the Fabia.

I personally want the Trinity alloys fitted to my car. I was slowly being swayed towards the idea of having the Gigaros fitted, but as I had ordered the car to my liking, I might as well demand the wheels I prefer and the ones the car should have come with anyway yeah?

As DavidIF quite rightly said, each there own I suppose

Thanks XK140

Simples really.

Call up the Dealership managing Director, Tell him you want a Skoda Monte Carlo as it comes from the factory matching what is in the Sales Brochure & online with the Options you ordered and paid for,

or  they can just keep the car, you do not want it.

Let them change the Wheels if they want the sale.

Send an Email saying the same thing to the Dealerships Finance Director.

Or accept it with the better wheels which match the rest of the contrasting Black Magic Trim.

The Trinity wheels do not match the other Painted trim. and look cheap. IMHO.

george

I was also going to say if one thing, that upgrade is for the best as Black Trinities, and all the all-black wheels in general look like cheap aftermarket options, the Gigaro's silver ring really sets them apart imho.

On the other hand I totally get the "just doesn't look stock" point, I share much of that same feeling about cars and exterior upgrades. I've seen various "Here are my new wheels" threads, be it on standard Fabias, Montes and vRS and I have never ever liked the change. It just screams "AFTERMARKET" in my eyes, like pretending to be something it clearly isn't.

That been said, we're talking about two different stock wheels of the very same brand and model, maybe the change is not that big, I mean you're not fitting Audi TT wheels after all (still trying to forget that horrible vRS look with those wheels on...)
