Is it a bird, Is it a plane, no, Its a new octavia vRS!

The throttle lag doesn't sound like something that's normal to me, not seen it mentioned before (though admittedly not looked for it !)

It might be worth persevering for a couple of hundred miles, and if it hasn't sorted itself ask the dealer to have a look ....

I got to say, usually I'm just pootling around, tiny imputs with the accelerator and trying to brake as little as possible so I don't waste fuel, but every once in a while you just want to overtake someone or you get a straight bit of road thats crying out to be belted along (its a vRS, why not?) and the lag just takes the shine off that blast. Its not so bad in sport mode but the vRS engine noise piped in, whilst nice for a few minutes, can get a bit grating, so I usually have it in normal mode, maybe i need to try the individual setting and have most stuff in sport but just turn the engine noise down a bit...Its only been two days, theres still loads of tech on this car I haven't tried yet...Still love it though

Throttle lag doesn't sound normal to me either, there's no lag on my diesel....

As Neily said, there isn't really any lag to speak of. The throttle is sharp in sport and deadened slightly in normal and again in Eco but you just need to push the peddle further and faster!

Certainly if it's in Sport and you're in the rigt gear I'd suggest pulling out before planting to right foot if you're overtaking! Also I don't find the noise that intrusive.

Back to the lag. Even at cruising speeds I haven't really noticed much lag as I think the engine pulls pretty well from most revs.

Smashing looking car there, I think they have set our cars up high so that we can look down on other drivers :giggle: .  I have had my Meteor Grey VRS for 6 weeks now and it has rained here in Devon during each and every 24 hours since I collected it, I will need new wipers soon !

I have also noticed a hesitation between pressing the loud pedal and the engine responding, not sure if this is normal or will need attention at some point, have only just done 600 miles so haven't driven using much of the rev range yet, I presume the response will improve when in a higher rev range though.

Have fun !!

I reckon SILVER ONE and mike999 are probably right about the correct rev range, possibly because I'm pootling I'm often barely above 1000 revs and (the car even tells me to go down a gear!) and so when I do decide to floor it, its not even close to the optimum rev range for acceleration and so thats causing the delay. I've just grown up watching my dad try to be as economical with a car as possible, its a hard habit to break...

I should look at the mpg display.  If the revs are too low, the mpg really suffers. I find that for the most part, the display tells me to change up a gear but in reality, a gear lower than the one suggested in the display is the most economical. Try it, you might be surprised.

Great looking car !!

Awaiting mine same colour TDI Hatch hopefully 2 weeks time

Sunroof

Privacy glass

Cruise

Spare wheel

Colour matrix

Full winter pack

Tow bar prep

Black pack

Enjoy

Pootling about at low revs is fine if there's no traffic and no hills/obstacles etc etc.

I've grown up watching my dad driving like that and my ears suffered as a 1.8 Sierra didn't like doing 30 in 5th and boomed the cabin to show it.

I have to admit to driving in the most responsive gear rather than the most economical one most of the time. Applying a little throttle moves you, quickly and taking the throttle off has a bit engine braking effect therefore using the brakes less. It also saves changing down when a hill appears, which is every 5 yards up here!

Anyway, have a play and see what works for how you like to drive and above all enjoy your new car!

Yeah, I'm loving it at the moment, the suspension is hard but somehow quite fair (especially considering the atrocious state the roads are in and around Liverpool), in the right gear its near instant acceleration, so its obvious that i was in the wrong gear to accelerate. Now I'm just in constant fear of some TW*T keying it...(I work in quite a dodgy area)
