Amber warning alert on new vRS?

Featured Replies

Hi all, I wonder if any of you have experience of this? Noticed the alert on the dash on the way back from picking the car up on Saturday, couldn't for the life of me work out how to search for it on the system but then didn't come back on when I restarted the car. Happened again today and this time had a play with the 'puter display and it alerted me to the need for checking the left headlight; checked and all ok so popping down to the dealer tomorrow.

25 miles on the clock so working on the theory that she's (no offense, non-gender specific...) just finding herself and merely bedding in  After all, what could possibly go worng!

Absolutely lovin' it

Several people have has this on recently delivered vRS, don't think anyone has found the problem actually is and its just gone away

Thanks Neily, hopefully I'll be confirming that this time tomorrow...

Yup, as suspected, ran diagnostics, couldn't find anything so cleared the errors and will keep an eye on it... :)

+1 for recently delivered VRS problem. However, mine hasn't gone away. It's just only morning starts, with a few days between each occurrence!

Me too, "Check right dipped beam." Lights on auto, Checked - nothing wrong, second time since got car on Saturday. If it does it again it's back in the garage.

Skoda have issued a technical Bulletin on this fault. Mine was doing the same thing; intermittent 'lamp failure; driver's side dipped beam' and amber warning triangle staying lit on the dash for the duration of my journey, then disappearing for a few days, before happening again. Booked my car into the dealers who mentioned the technical bulletin and ordered a new control unit for the lights, which when fitted, appears to have solved the problem.

Thanks Karvy, will check it in and see what they do.

Is this just xenons?  A member with halogens reported the same issue recently.

Is this likely to be sorted on the production line? My dealer was suggesting 21 weeks when I ordered in December, so hoping little errors like this might have been resolved before I get mine.

The Yeti when they were first launched in the UK had a very similar issue with xenon equipped cars, faulty ballast boxes I believe was the cause.

Many thanks Karvy, emailed your comment to the dealer the morning after they'd looked and found nothing, a few hours later their service department phoned, thanked me for the info, apologised for not having that knowledge previously and booked me in for next Wednesday to replace the offending unit.

Hi,

I had this problem on my 2013 Octavia Elegance estate with Xenons, although that was flagging up an amber warning triangle and telling me on the instrument cluster display saying 'check RH Dipped Beam'.

I used the information from this forum regarding a Technical Bulletin to give to the dealers,  see link      Amber warning triangle then check info on vehicle data

The fact that when I arrived at the dealers where it was booked in the amber warning light was on (it was an intermittant fault and I took photos everytime it happened including showing the RH dipped beam off). I left the car running when I arrived until a technician could connect his diagnostic laptop to it which showed a controller problem.

This has been changed under warranty and touch wood it all seems fine now.

Hope this helps

I had the same message this morning on my way to work. When I pulled up at work I got out and looked at the light, it was flickering!! I took it to the dealers at lunch and it was just a loose connection to the headlight. The mechanic pushed the plug home and all seems to be fixed ! Fingers crossed.

I've just had this. lights came on as it was starting to rain. about 5 mins later, warning still there but saw in a reflection both lights were on, not sure if they were both on when message first popped up though. MEssage disappeared after restarting engine. Hope its a one off, or else its a trip to the dealers

Me too, mine is booked in for next Thursday but I'll be printing this thread to show them!

Mine has done it again a couple of times. Sadly on one occasion one of the lights didn't even come on. Tried switching off/on manually - no luck. Only after a restart of the car did the second come on. car is booked in on Monday for a couple of days for them to look at it.

@bichti You had your beam controller changed and the problem came back?

not yet. it had a software update and it came back after that. I assume that the control unit will be changed when it goes in next week.

Good to hear that :) I'm scheduled for a replacement this friday.

was driving past my local dealership today and told asked them about the problem. they found the technical bulletin and agreed to change the part on monday, assuming mine is listed as one of the affected models (has only happened once so far, but once to many IMO)

Had my right headlight unit changed 10 days ago due to RH Bulb error. New one now has RH Daytime Running Light error. Going back again on thursday, maybe get another new one...

Not having much luck with the headlight Rob!

no im not. first problem was just a one off, but they changed it due to their technical bulletin, this time, with the DRL, it happened on my journey from home, and back to home, the LED's off the whole journey.

Maybe just a bad connection or something a little loose from when they changed it.

Kinda lucky though, I've got a load of bathroom tiles / plasterboard and rubbish tht need to go to the tip, it can now go in the courtest car and not make a mess in mine :D

I saw this happening on another forum. After he changed the xenon control unit the DRL errors started to appear. When he took the car back the dealer told him the control unit has to be changed again.

What was the diagnostic on your car?
