Servicing

Maximum extended oil drain is 30,000 km, which works out about 18k miles.

Mines on variable and I have always been told the max is 20k or 12 months, and mine has always worked out at about every 18k, but then I normally do 2.5k a month. I would say it was extremely unlikely that a car with that few miles was on variable, therefore it should be done at 10k or at 12 months.

That car should have had at least 2 services, which ever regime it was on.

I would agree that there seems to be a 1k leeway for the service, in either direction, but I was told 2 weeks by the dealer I use.

If you are buying a car from out of the dealer network then the only way you will get a warranty will be to buy an external one. Skoda will only give their official warranty for a vehicle sold under the Skoda Approved Used Car scheme. Is that what you mean when you say "service plan"? Or are you thinking of the service offers that are only available to NEW cars?

Variable is up to 18 or 2yrs.

Fixed is 10k or 12 months

Yep, have now found something in writing from VW that says variable servicing gives up to 30000km (18.6k miles) or 2 years for diesel engines in the EU. Must assume that it will be the same for Skoda. Still trying to get through to Mitchells.

It's the same. It's on the skoda and vw websites

Sticker on my car says "WITHIN 18K OR 12 MONTHS", and was put on by the dealer after the last service, so they are obviously wrong. TBH I'm not bothered as I will do that mileage easily.

As far as I know that service plan is only available from a dealer on an Approved vehicle.

Feedback from speaking to 2 agents. Varies from there being little leeway on late service to 1000 miles & 1 month which seems sensible and in line with other manufacturers. The Used Car Service plan can be bought for any Skoda car and I could buy the plan and have a service straight away.

From day 1 Yeti has been on fixed annual servicing, I do about 7000 miles a year approx. half of which is in London traffic where the average speed is supposedly to be about 12 mph, blah blah. Whilst variable servicing is good for those who live out of urban areas and cover lots of gentle cruising miles, I believe that a more frequent servicing pattern to be suitable in my case.

In the case of the Skoda Approved Extended Warranty, each service must be completed within 500 miles of the mileage recommended by the manufacturer or within four weeks of the recommended time period, whichever occurs first.

The Skoda New Car Warranty gives no guidance as to what, if any, leeway is allowed, and says: ''To obtain the full benefit of this warranty it is essential that the vehicle is properly serviced in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.'
