Jeep Renegade

It's aimed squarely at the young outdoor types who want off road but look cool around town without spending evoke money.

  • LOL, We better wait and see once they sell some if these are mechanically reliable or not,   If it is based on the 500L which start at over £16,000, what is the 500L based on is it a Panda startin

  • I don't think at my age I can be called a chick. I look more like a ruddy ostrich Anyhoo

You still aren't endearing yourself to me with that comment you know :p

So my Dad and Step mum had one of these a few weeks back as a courtesy car when suddenly their Ford B-Max decided neither key would work to start it!

They actually really liked it. It was a decent spec with sat-nav, heated leather, Bluetooth etc. Also had a really nice looking big colour screen in the instrument cluster.

It was the 1.4 turbo petrol and it went very well apparently!

They said the ride was a bit harsh though and didn't feel any quicker than the 1.0 ecoboost in the Ford.

I'd only get a Renegade if I wanted a 4x4 as I personally think there are better crossovers out there for general use. And some of the colours are 'challenging', possibly even more so than the Vitara's :D

I like the 500X but love the Panda Cross (especially the previous version) even more :)

I know, me too..........VERY tempting for one trying to reform ))))

The only thing that put me off them was the weedy engines. If they put a nippy 1.4 petrol or diesel into a Cross it would be top of my list :)

Dunno

Our 1.2 is not short of shove and light over the front also.

Small is getting much better these days and cruising economy is great .....averaging 5L/100km (57mpg imp) over its 15,000kms.

The diesel used to be a less powerful version of the Punto engine and the petrol wasn't really in keeping with the character of the car I felt. Mind you there is a parking spot for one in my fantasy garage :)

I'd have a renegade tomorrow if they were cheap enough. I think they look smart. Then again, I do like weird cars, I have a dog turd brown Peugeot 3008 after all.

I dunno... they do a 1.4 petrol with 168bhp paired with a 9 speed auto gearbox.

Not in the Cross though :(

PHIL, a 9 speed auto will give a teensy bit better placarded figures only

And

Hunt like crazy on the road

No thanks.

Best try driving one, they certainly do not hunt.

9 speed is almost just like CVT (Subaru Lineatronic gearbox)  seamless and gets the best from the engines, economy and performance.

A bit like a 7speed DSG with a 1.4 tsi VW engine.

Hunting was specifically one of the complaints I read.

I hate 'busy' gearboxes as I'm an old 'non wear n tear' type.

The fuel and emission savings are false economy to me as a potential long term owner.

The old Fiat CVT was shocking, I test drove a cancelled Far East order convertible Punto with one fitted. The dealer took me around a flat route, I insisted on finding a steep hill, the damn thing mooed like a cow until it found its take up point, and then proceeded to moo every time I booted it. Horrible device.
