Oh well -- spose you should alway's look at what's bundled with stuff you buy......Audigy 2 soundcard comes with Creative Mediasource-which handles everything VCD/DVD/Audio & MP3 -- even has CDDB database retrieval so all the track names come up.....and all for the bargain price of FREE(well once you've bought the soundcard anyway )

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned CDex from http://www.cdex.n3.net/ .

It may not look pretty but it works very well and is free (as in speech and as in beer).

As well as ripping and encoding from CDs it'll convert from wav to mp3 and vice versa. Like virtually all its rivals it'll name tracks and files automatically from CDDB.

I'm using Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum. I think 6 is out now but whatever, it's a doddle.

I also use easyCD 5 to write CDs - seems very reliable with my 40x writer (although I can't write at that speed because the PC is a bit slow (750) and I get buffer worries.)

Just scroll through them menus, it's amazing what you find you've got! I suppose I should have pointed out that I've got an SB Live! Platinum, with the livedrive bay. Was the top of the Creative range, until the Audigy range came out.

My PC is over three years old now, but is good enough for me and my requirements. :)

(although I've needed new writer,RAM,HD,Rom Drive (when Paul get's back to me :D ))

I'm saying it's a doddle. Nice shiny coaster anyone?

I have SO many CD tea-coasters. Most of them are usually I.P junk "join our internet service" CDs.

Oh well it's only money isn't it.....could not get the CDDB database working on the creative(uncreative) stuff -- so bought a nice shiny copy of myMP3 -- by steinberg -- it's great, look's good and is v.easy to use. -- Only down side is it's limited to 20 encodings -- then you have to pay to "upgrade"

That's where a cracked version of audiocatalyst from WinMX comes in handy. who? moi? oh non!

Another vote for CDex here!

the definative ripping machine.. fast and reliable.. and sounds amazing with the Radium or Ogg codecs.
