Fifty Two Pounds!!!

Featured Replies

Is there a petition still ongoing? why doesnt this country ever stand up for itself and actually protest PROPERLY?

Who exactly do you think we should protest against?

The price rises in the last year are ***all*** down to rises in the cost of crude oil and stamping your feet and shouting won't make a blind bit of difference to OPEC.

Yes , in the UK we pay more for petrol than other countries due to taxation but then they pay more tax in other ways.

If fuel duty was dropped then taxes would have to rise elsewhere , or we could just close down a few hospitals or schools instead.

Take your pick

Have to agree with the Zed man there!

Same as the whole tax on cigs, if there wasn't any smokers then the money would have to come from else where.

There are ways of the government not spending so much money but that is another subject!

have you noticed the guy that did the fuel protests last time has strangely disappeared

Fuel duty is disproportionately high in the UK, and the government does p1ss away a lot of money on things it really shouldn't. If they reduced wastage they could happily cut fuel tax. Say, for example, reject every single person who comes through the channel tunnel to claim asylum... since every single person who does that has no right to claim it... :D

It's simply there to make dumb people think things are cheaper than they really are! :D

The reasoning used to be to stop staff pocketing the money as these uneven amounts make giving change more neccessary.

Anyway, the price isn't that bad TBH. Supply and demand and all that. If you use the inflation indexes on 1980 prices to today we're paying a lot less. The price of oil should be around $90 rated from 1980's prices.

And things may get worse still!

I still don't think 90p a litre is that bad for what it is.

I've never seen the point of the .9 bit anyway. Its like when they charge
It is actually a security thing (the .99 at least).

Because nothing was exactley a round pound price' date=' unless you are really lucky to find a customer with a pocket full of schrapnel, you have to open the till for every transaction.

So the money goes into the till instead of the staff pockets, and the stock gets paid for instead given away free to mates.[/quote']

Totally correct however I found when I worked in Safeway, people never waited for it so it increased to 5p and xx.95p and lattery xx.90p. I often do have a pocketful of change as I hate not having it!

Funnily enough I think I heard that as part of my Safeway induction, when I signed on as Night Crew.

Just in the mouth of the inlet on the left hand side is a small black button. Normally the filler cap presses this in when it's closed but you can use the side of the nozzle to push it in and open the pipe to the expansion tank

Let's have a petrol strike. Nobody fill up their tanks for a whole day. Send a mailer to everyone u know and tell them to pass it on. that will teach the government they cant mess with the people.

What difference would that make?

You'd still use the same amount of fuel and would just fill up a day later.

Thats not cost anyone any money

Aha, thank you :D

I can't remember the website but there is one that compares petrol prices in your area and shows you who's cheapest... AA petrolbusters used to do that but it's gone now, however there is another site out there...

Try this one.....

It amazed me how determined yet lazy people were last week. Around my way there were queues of about half a mile to all main-road based petrol stations. So I went 5 mins down the road to south mimms service station, which doesn't have a main road going past it, and I had to wait for 1 car in front of me who was already at the pump to fill up and then I did. Came back in the A6 and didn't have to wait at all. Thank god that's my old dear's car and she's footing the petrol bill, that thing cost over
