range rover sport hse lux engine?

Featured Replies

what engine would one of these have? do all the hse's have the same engine?

Old shape? Anything from a 2.7 188bhp diesel to a 5.0 supercharged V8 with 500bhp.

not sure? looked pritty fancy. twin exaust. just been behind one as it pulled onto the slip road.

I've yet to see a new shape one tbh, more than likely the older shape. Could be anything, the 2.7 diesels are so slow it's comical, 12 seconds 0-60 :D

Boss has got an '07' Sport with the 3.6 v8 diesel. Sounds bloody great and meant to be 'chipped' as well.

it was badged a luxary. does this still mean it could be any engine?

I've owned a Mk2 Range Rover 4.6 HSE and a Mk2 Disco, the RR was huge, the Disco more cramped. Mate's son has a 2012 RR Sport. Too small to sit two 6 footers one behind the other. If you've got the cash go for a Range Rover.

I was a bit worried 'cos it'll be my buy when I win the lottery and the new ones look odd with the pretend vents on the front door. It'll be OK though as they look fine if body coloured not silver :-)

My Father has a Range Rover Sport HSE with a 3.0L V6 diesel. 245 BHP IIRC he loves the thing.

Ouch. Mine does 0-60 quicker than that!

Most likely/commonly the V8 diesel.

how does it compair to your octy?

No idea, I have never even had a ride in it. Only thing I have done is play with the air ride to see how High and low I could get it.

Accidentally left it in the Low setting, My mother drove off, wouldn't let her go over 20mph. So she turned around and came back home because she thought it was 'Broken'.

If it was the old (dated) shape it's probably the 2.7 diesel which isn't very quick. They got updated to the later 3.0 diesel towards the last few years which is better.

There are some 3.6 V8 diesels about (same engine I had in my Full Fat Range Rover) and it's far better and quicker.

The 5.0 supercharged petrol is bonkers in a straight line, with a thirst to match.

The TDV8 (3.6) is actually quite fast, probably would have been that or a HST, hence the exhaust

They all have twin pipes but not all on show like that.

Some are just normal ones tucked up under the rear bumper.

Round here the RRS are often driven by selfish idiots, often wearing Tweed and flat caps!

And round here they're all driven by mums dropping their kids at the door of their private school... so pretty much the same thing! :giggle:

my boss had that engine in the one he had, and it was chipped. it was very fast, and sounded like a petrol.

So... small thread revival.

Me auld lad just called down, and hes bought himself a barely run in Range Rover sport! 2006 HSE, 2.7 diesel automatic, leather interior etc.

85000km... full history - dealer serviced annually regardless of milage (about 1300km /yr...) full set of tyres fitted just before christmas. He managed to find out who all the previous owners were via the service history. Orignal owner used it as a "weekend car" 3/4 times a yr when he was visiting his parents. Spent the rest of the yr being pampered in the dealers. That was the first 7yrs of it life, it then got used a courtesy car by dealers, they couldnt sell it - noone would believe the milage hadnt been fiddled, but the service history shows it!

Sounds like a good buy.

But as long as he doesn't expect it to be quick!

As my post above the old 2.7 diesel is actually slower than my 1.9 PD105 DSG... and probably a bit thirstier. Very surprised. Maybe the weight? A couple of tonnes perhaps?

But they're a nice place to be inside I suppose and if he got it for the right money. I think they're pretty reliable these days.

Yeah it was a good deal, and the auldlad doesnt do flat out power anymore, comfort cruising now :D
