Skoda Superb 2014 - Retrofit Parking Sensors

Featured Replies

Hi There,

I was hoping someone could help me, I've been using your forum a lot recently and it's been of great help.

The company I work at have recently receive 5 New Superb's (2014 shape).

Unfortunately the powers that be didn't opt for the parking sensors, and are now regretting it.

We have purchased the front and rear parking kit from carsystems.pl along with Columbus head units and are currently at the stage where the kit has been wired into the CAN gateway and the headunit has been installed, which appears to be working fine.

I don't want to go ahead with fitting the sensors until I know that everything will work.

So i was wondering if anyone knows (or could point me in the right direction) exactly what is required programming wise for the system to work?

The original CD player was the bog standard Swing, and we've put in the Columbus unit (I believe from a 2013 model).

From what I have gathered, I need to enable the OPS module on the CAN Gateway, and perhaps something on the Columbus unit too? I don't think i'll suffer from the battery drain issue as I assume the superbs have the latest CAN gateway module installed.

Any information which anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated!

this is exactly, as You described - don't worry - all wil work fine

Got myself a VCDS kit and coded the unit myself. all went well.

Only thing is that I can't seem to get the Columbus to communicate with the maxidot? I have no audio or nav options.

I have selected 'navigation' in the installations list under CAN gateway but I'm not sure i need to activate the BAP under the nav unit?

Another point to note is that the columbus unit has software version 5270 (I think). not too sure what the hardware model is (will check tomorrow). would this cause an issue? don't know if there is an issue with units designed for octavia's going into superbs as I'm not sure where the headunit came from.

Last question! probably a no go but my boss was keen to make the sensors come on at low speeds? I don't believe this is possible though..

The parking sensor button in the car will allow you to turn them on and off on demand. Not sure if you put this in with the retrofit though. Having them turn on at low speeds would be handy though - there are a lot of narrow streets where I live.
