Auric needs a new Printer......

Featured Replies

I have a HP Ink printer at the moment but I think it's on it's way out. I've just replaced the Ink Cartridges ( all 4 ) and it still won't print very well, everything is very faint.

Thing is I don't print very much and the printer will sit Idle for a few weeks so I think everything had dried up.

Can you tell me which printer will be good for an occasional  printer.  Is there an alternative to an Ink printer

Must be able to Print, copy and scan

Any Suggestions please

Thanks

You need a laser printer.

Mmmm thanks, do they do Colour and black printing?

Is it the same as a Laser Jet or do they use toners

As said, you need a laser printer.

Ink doesn't dry up and far lower cost per page than inkjet.

Do you want colour?

What's your budget?

Colour Yes and not fussed about the price, just need something that will print when I need to

How do they print?

Do lasers dry up if not used much, I may be in the same boat as a ink printer

No. I print very rarely and I've never had a problem with my colour laser (well LED) printer.

That's not a minimum print qty, it's recommended quantity. If you're a business printing 5000 pages a month it's not going to work as you'll need a printer designed for higher print volumes, but it will be fine for lower volumes.

They don't dry up, they don't have ink.

Toner is a powder and is happy to sit there.

Laser printers use dry powder and there is nothing to dry out - they are quite happy to print one only sheet per year. Duty cycles and monthly volumes are only a guideline of what the printer is capable of producing if worked hard -a machine intended for light use is going to wear out if put in a busy office where it is printing all day long, but having a machine that is over -specified will do no harm save for a higher purchase price and will be bigger and bulkier as a rule, but should be a harder wearing machine for it. Colour laser printers cost more that black and white because they have a lot more parts in them.

Questions:

1. Do you ever print on CD/DVD/Blu Ray discs?

2. Do you ever do duplex printing (double sided) to save paper?

If the answer is yes to either then get a Canon Inkjet. Epson have good quality, but they're a right PITA with chipped cartridges and you can't usually use 3rd party ones.

My Canon you can, it does both & it does printing from Wi-Fi & USB, it has a high resolution scanner too.

Have a look at the Canon Pixma MX925, it does scanning, faxing, duplex printing, CD/DVD/Blu Ray printing the lot.

Look no further:

Hes 'Goldfinger' isn't he? :giggle:

How about a low tech solution, for the printing at least...

Lasers not so good for pictures if that's an issue.

I'd still recommend laser over injet. Just get your prints done online.

Check out cartrige costs. Laser refills can be a bit scary.

I've a Samsung mono laser, about 8yr old and still going strong on compatible (cheap) toner. Laser tend to last much longer than inkjets.
