Bluetooth module issue - Skoda Superb Business 2.0 TDI, 2010

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I bought my Skoda Superb Business 2.0 TDI, 2010 today, and overall I love it.

There is a little "issue" with the bluetooth module however. And by issue I don't mean that it doesn't work, it does it's job great, but it lacks the ability to stream audio.

I read one of the stickies on here, but as I am a bit uncertain I figured it would be better to ask the question myself.

I want to replace it with a newer module to allow audio streaming, and as the process seemed rather easy I figured I'd do it asap.

I have been looking at this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OEM-VW-Bluetooth-module-RCD-RNS510-A2DP-Voice-Control-iPhone-3C8035730-B-/281261158426?pt=UK_CE_GPS_Accessories_Software_ET&hash=item417c78b01a

Will this one work with my 2010 Skoda Superb? Do you reckon it will be as "Plug-and-play" friendly as mentioned in this thread: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/189618-rsap-bluetooth-to-handsfree-sucess/

There is another one specified for Skoda, but it's in the 200 dollar range, so if I could save 100 USD it would be great!

Thanks in advance for any answers you will be able to provide!

Although mine is a 2012 model I may have had a Similiar problem to what you may have..

You have to pair the car twice with the bluetooth system, once as a phone and once as a media player via the menu system in the bluetooth settings menu once the Phone is paired

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

I tried this, both going through the limited BT settings on my iPhone 5S and the BT settings in the car itself, but I found no option what so ever to pair as a media device/player.

Alas, issue still present, if you have any other ideas or tips I'll gladly accept :sun:

That module should be fine - a quick look here shows that it supports the A2DP audio streaming.  I believe the problem that you may run into is that the older Superbs are not wired for stereo sound from the bluetooth module.  Getting this to work would then entail running an extra wire from the headunit down under the drivers seat to the bluetooth module :-/  I believe that several on here have done this, however.

The settings won't be visible in the MFD until a compatible module is installed.  I guess your present one isn't on the above list as being supported?

Hey Mark,

Thank you for your reply.

I'll go ahead and order this module (don't worry, I won't arrest you if it doesn't work :P).

Is there any way of verifying that this connection is present in my car at this point?

I can have a look at the module itself, but I don't know exactly what I am looking for.

Right now the BT connection works perfectly fine for phone calls, but as mentioned, not the audio streaming.

Thanks,

Alexander

If you look round about here in the sticky thread I think there's more detail in which pins are not wired in the not A2DP compatible loom.  I think it's a case of looking at the larger plug that goes into the Bluetooth module and seeing which pins are actually connected.

A later post in the same thread suggests that this cable could also be used as a complete replacement rather than just adding in an additional wire.  I don't know if that's true or not, but it looks right to me.

HTH,
