Vrs On A Slow Boat?

Featured Replies

Just got back from Magalluf today and spoke to the dealer about aranging a time to pick up my nice new 53 plate black vRS when he said oh actualy the car has not landed in the UK yet so who knows when it is going to arrive know

Hopefully he will be calling me back tomorrow with a phew answers.

What were you doing going to Shagalluf? A guy could get a bit of a dodgy rep from going there you know ;)

The VAG group have very strick guidelines as to when they will allow the car ferry's to sail -- this sometimes causes long delays in delivery to the UK -- but better that than lot's of damage to new cars...we currently are awaiting approx 25 car's that SHOULD have been going to there new owner's tomorrow -- but as they are not in the UK yet - it will be at least 2 week's before they get them.

:( The wait for a new car is the toughest bit :(

Not like BMW, then :D

Or Volvo and Saab either! :D

I'll bet there'll be a load of cheap BMW, Volvo & Saab alloys being offered around Europe soon, once they get the cars offloaded from the bits of Tricolor.

Not a chance. They have started to offload bits but every car is to be melted down almost instantly after it reaches the shore! I'd be interested to see how much rust these cars have on them.

Shame. There MUST be some parts they can recycle. Tyres? Plastics? Surely enough environmental damage has been done already.

Maybe plastics will be recycled but chassis will definatly be melted down. That was one of the set things when they went about organising a salvage operation, that the vehicles would never see the roads of europe again. Quite understandable really when you consider they have benn immersed in sea water for 4 months!

I ordered a 53-plate black vRS 2 weeks ago, and am collecting today :) At the time, the dealer did give me the "there's 1 car left showing as available on our system" line, which I thought was just sales talk. Perhaps he wasnt lying after all..............

Already have a couple of thousand miles worth of travel plans in the next week so that I can get it jabba'ed asap. Shame the 18" rims are taking longer to get hold of than the car took !!!

... we actually insured the cargo on the Tricolor - quite a nasty big loss on that one  The cars will all be scrapped - they actually were in pretty good shape when they came out but as soon as they became exposed to the air again the rust set in at a pretty rapid rate - no bits are being recycled officially mainly due to the potential liability aspect of reselling water damaged goods (ie if it goes wrong .... )
